I was listening to a "roundtable" podcast about X-Files fan fiction and they mentioned that most of the authors of those are female and the professional writing staff was almost all male. And you can see the different in subject matter between the genders writing

The male writers would always write these horrible things that happen to M&S but then in the next episode, its like they just go on to the next case and the female fan fic writers fill in the gaps about their emotional fall outs from the experiences.

And of course alot more sex attraction etc. stuff

That’s very true! I’m thankful for fanfic because it tends to fix storylines of the show or add on more to the story to make them better. And of course all the sex.

I have this wish that there was crossover fan fic about Mulder and Scully entering episodes of the Twilight Zone and trying to solve the weird cases and happenings as the episode plays along. I don’t feel creative enough to write them myself but I can just picture that kind of crosssover... M&S in black and white while Mulder tries to figure out where the little girl disappears to and how to enter the other dimension she’s trapped in, etc.

I'm sorry but all the ones I can recommend are mostly them getting it on. I'm sure someone has written an AU one like what you described. There are so many MSR fics out there!

Yep, I am getting a strong urge lately to read more fanfic, I feel like I need some “new” Mulder and Scully storylines and emotions lately!

I kind of want to read one where she dies but I feel like it’ll make me so depressed. I want to read something with angst though!

Ones where Mulder or Scully dies actually can make me cry sometimes

I would be so gutted but man do I love me some angst.

Yeah, they just can’t be alone, they need each other so when one of them dies, the angst is devastating on the remaining partner and I just visualize their pain like I’m watching a movie, so its pretty easy to cry about it

I saw the Pusher sequel and that moment when Mulder thinks Scully was made to shoot herself in the head and fall down dead is the closet to what its like, DD really sold the grief in that moment of thinking she was dead.

Oh man, he lost it. But I know he values Scully's life so much because he even chose her over his sister!

Yeah it was so heartbreaking on his face. And that’s how it goes for me in angst death fanfic of them.

I'd still like to find one where one of them dies but it has to be written really well.
