Fans of the show don't appreciate it because they aren't fans of the show, they only like MSR. I have only seen them criticize it because of Mulder's past love. That is the most asinine reason to dislike an episode. The fact that the show explored reincarnation in that way was fascinating to me.

I liked that episode too, such a shame how much hate it got at the time when it’s actually beautifully filmed and written

It's one of the most stunning episodes to me because of the scenery and music. To show Mulder so vulnerable with someone he never met was incredibly profound. Because even though he didn't know her in that life, he felt like he was connected to her in another one. I believe in that stuff because to me it's the same as connecting with someone and not being able to explain why you feel it.

I thought that it was beautifully done It’s just a shame that they had to cut so much out for time, they mentioned on the dvd extras that they had to edit out a ton to fit the time slot

Yeah, I listened to an episode they talked about “Quagmire” and it was interesting to listen to and they are about an hour each with two to three fans. Keeping my interest as I listen!
