I still find it crazy and rude that casting agents would see her after the X-Files and be surprised like "oh, she can act!" Like as if in the X-Files as Scully, that wasn't good acting or something! Probably cause they think sci-fi is the level of B movie acting.

She said that because she's been based in the UK for so long, it hasn't been easy for her to get work in America because she doesn't have a large body of work here.

And yeah I agree, she won an Emmy and other awards for The X-Files, so the casting agents are being ridiculous if they were surprised to find that she’s a good actress. I think it is something to do with Sci-Fi not being respected as a genre

Actually, I remember people claiming DD couldn’t act based on Mulder’s monotone and dry humour expressions, but they don’t know what they are talking about.

Oooh, Gillian is gorgous, makes me think of the 1940’s in it!
