And I was like no, we say it if we state something that we expect our companion will agree with what we said like “Man, the rain was really crazy outside, eh?”

Or “That movie theatre has been closed forever, eh?”

You can’t just tack it onto any sentence

I know this is off topic of Gillian sort of, but how do Americans use the word “yo” at the end of a sentence? Maybe Americans think our “eh” is like their “yo”

Yo is also an interjection but it doesn't mean the same thing as eh. It's used to get someone's attention, express a feeling, or as a greeting. It really depends on the context of what you're saying.

And I remember when I was really little we had a little girl from Texas in America join our school for a bit, and everyone was simply fascinated by the way that she said ‘huh huh’
