Jess was by far Rory’s most popular boyfriend on Gilmore Girls. The season three episode "Here Comes the Son" was meant to be a pilot for a Jess spinoff called Windward Circle, which would focus on the teen bad boy’s relationship with his estranged father, Jimmy Mariano.

I always wonder how the spin off would have worked? and if it worked out was successful would they ever have had a cross over episode??

I think what the spin-off could've been is all up in the air/speculative but it seems like only Amy and Dan really know what direction they would've wanted to go in

eh I don't really see crossover stuff happening except for maybe Jess running into Dave haha

in a dream world Ryan Atwood and Seth Cohen from The O.C. totally crossed paths with Jess at some point b/c the timeline fits

I know both Jess and Dave left after season 3, I just always think had the show worked out how that would have had an impact on GG. I mean Jess wouldn't have come back for those episodes in season 4 and if the show was still going on in season 6 how would they have fixed Rory? So I do wonder if Jess becoming a writer was always in plans for that character and that would have been a storyline in Windward Circle.

yeah it's all what could've been/I guess we'll never know but I don't see why Jess wouldn't have returned to the other show at some point?

I personally don't see Jess staying with his dad and I really don't feel like they would even have that many stories to tell in the spin-off so realistically I see the show only lasting 2 seasons (3 at most)

I've stated before how although his re-appearances are far and few between after S3 they are very impactful

as for him writing his own book yes I do see that as always having been part of the planned SL/arc for Jess

Exactly without Jess some of the storylines would not have taken place. He was the one who got Rory to go back to Lorelai and Yale, and even in the revival he got Rory on path to write a book.
