It would come across forced but still could happen.

I agree; I think this is what will likely happen, forced or not. And lots of people still love Defan scenes when they occur - no matter how out of the blue - so I think at least a portion of the fan base would lap it up. The response seemed to be pretty positive to the hug in whatever episode that was. I think people are just desperate for a sl that isn't some crappy romance, even if it is terribly written.

Truth I can't stand Damon or Defan, yet I completely 'awwed' over that fracking reunion scene. Was my 'aww' for Stefan only? Absolutely. But I think that works the other way around as well.

I honestly understand this being something that is better to write. The show needs to move on and that's the best way to do it.

This is JP and she could do the opposite.
I could see TVD jumping ahead a few months or maybe even a year, but that's it. If Jo doesn't lose the babies this season, then I think they'll only jump ahead 3-6 months because they wouldn't want us to miss the "heartwarming moment" when Jolaric decide to name one of the twins Elena.

But with TO, I could see them doing a time jump of several years (but no more than 5.) Since Hope can't be sent away with Rebekah anymore, they'll probably want to age her as it's easier to work with kids than babies and they might want to expand on her magical abilities.
