Reign Spoilers and Speculation #16: First come Kennash then comes brothels, then comes love
REIGN SPOILERS & SPECULATION THREAD Airing Thursdays at 8 PM EST on the CW Trailer: Hidden between the lines of the history books is the story of Mary Stuart, the young woman the world would come to know as Mary, Queen of Scots. Queen of Scotland since she was six days old, the teenage Mary is already a headstrong monarch – beautiful, passionate, and poised at the very beginning of her tumultuous rise to power. Arriving in France with four close friends as her ladies-in-waiting, Mary has been sent to secure Scotland’s strategic alliance by formalizing her arranged engagement to the French king’s dashing son, Prince Francis. But the match isn’t signed and sealed, it depends more on politics, religion and secret agendas than affairs of the heart. Prince Francis is intrigued by the fiery Scot, but like most young men, he resists the idea of settling down into marriage, especially when he has a history with a lady of the court and his own point of view on the wisdom of an alliance with Scotland. Still, an attraction between Mary and Francis is ignited. Further complicating things is Bash, Francis’ roguish half-brother, who has a history of his own – despite his illegitimate birth, Bash is his father’s favorite. And now that Bash has caught Mary’s eye, a royal triangle may be forming. LOVE the title, Shu! But you probably knew that already, did you not? TFTNT! Bringing over from the prior thread.

Since I think she's running away from him next week and landing in one as a way to try to take back control of her life. I also believe he & Henry find her there post exorcism and that begins the KB bonding and ultimate falling for one another. He'd have to be the most selfish person who ever was born to not feel guilt that his wife would rather be a prostitute than married to him..given he apparently makes explicit he doesn't even like her. Um, you're wrong. Greer currently still has a lot of money, she just has no title. Her family wealth is also coming up against the real fact that its source is drying up. Mines. __________________

I had some confusion about this earlier on in the series, but I think that all 4 of the LIW come from wealthy families, though Aylee's was the wealthiest. However, Greer was the only one to not have a title, which is why her family is so pressed that she marry up.
I'm so glad that you were right on the money with your Kenna/Bash speculation Laura! I was excited for this storyline when it was just speculation and I'm even more excited now that's a reality. I haven't seen the episode yet so it's hard for me to comment on anything that happened within it. But without having seen it, I will make this speculation in regards to the "triangle" - no it's not 100% dead. I just don't think it's going to live on the way some people might think or hope for. Based on years of soap viewing, I think it's safe to assume that just as Bash and Kenna start to grow close and develop feelings (which I'm 99.9% sure is gonna happen), Kenna's going to be insecure about Bash's feelings for Mary. Again, having not seen the episode just yet, I'm going to throw it out there that Bash confessing his still there feelings to Mary (which, dude, for realz please stop and get your life) is more for the Kenna/Bash relationship than it is for the Mary/Francis relationship. Might there also be some Francis insecurities thrown in there as well later on? Maybe. But I'm just not convinced that there is going to be some grand torrid love affair between Mary and Bash. I mean, we are talking about Mary here. Selfless, kindhearted Mary. She's not gonna cheat on her husband (physically or otherwise) whom she loves and she's not going to sleep with/covet her friend's husband. __________________

Don't really know how I feel about this episode...
I'm glad Francis and Bash "made up" and I was surprised to enjoy their scene as much as I did in this episode. Bask being forced to marry a sobbing Kenny while still having feelings for Mary and being made master of horsed and hunt (which mean he'll see Mary everyday in the castle)? LAUGHABLE!!! So Mary still isn't pregnant, Lola can't fit her dresses anymore and both Kenna and Greer are aware of her pregnancy. Nosty and Olivia kissing? YEAH!!! My reactions says a lot considering I hate Olivia. I really thought that it would be Peppercorn taht would caught Greer and Leith and to my suprise it was in fact Julien who did. You gotta love Peppercorn though, now Greer is engaged to him and I think that's the best match she could make. Julien and Lola are engaged as well. Let me take 2 seconds to talk about Julien....HOT HOT HOT HOT and so much HOTTER in motion than in the pictures. I just wanted to take a bite out of his ass during the entire episode. Lola? You are a Lucky girl. Get married soon and make the baby his...you got my blessing LOL __________________

Greer is from the gentry class, so she's a commoner and doesn't have a title. She's socially a lesser, but that doesn't make her a nobody. England had three queens from the gentry class before Greer was even born (Elizabeth Woodville, Anne Boleyn, and Jane Seymour). And we know that Greer is incredibly wealthy. In the pilot she mentioned all the silks and jewelery her parents had shipped to the French court for Mary and the LIW to make up for her lack of title. Basically, gentry were acceptable to marry nobles and be queen's LIW if they were wealthy. __________________

ParsD, isn't Catherine's line about Greer that she's "ridiculously rich?" Which considering who Catherine is, is saying something. Woman had bank.

Also I want to add Katherine Parr and Katherine Howard to the list of English queens that began as gentry. That makes five. Plus the Queen of France.... Basically Greer's lack of title doesn't make her a nobody anymore than those queens were. __________________

And Greer is not a nobody to Catherine. Before Greer even arrived at the French court Catherine knew of her, and knew her net worth.... Mary's LIW are important political pawns. That's why LIW are noblewoman and wealthy gentry and not poor commoners. __________________
