Yeah I've heard some things don't translate very well or at all. That is one of the things I like about some of the mangas where they have notes in the back explaining some things because they felt they needed to be in the manga but couldn't translate to English so they did notes instead.
|
Interesting. Do you have any examples of that?
|
It's mostly from what I've seen in mangas done by Clamp. They talked about holidays, I think they mentioned a poster on the wall of a popular singer and stuff like that. I'm trying to think what other mangas I read it in.
|
well i think more dub for me don't get me wrong i love sub but in some sites the translations gets them wrong on what they are saying plus subs is a easier way of learning japanese
but im more dub cause voice actors in dub make their characters sound abit mature :D |
Sometimes like for Case Closed I will watch both subbed and dubbed if I can. I think they both have good things about them.
|
yea sub is mostly what the characters are saying on whats in their manga
dubs though some stuff they say they also say in their mangas too |
When I am tired I like dubbed the best because you don't have to pay as much attention.
|
yeah and you don't have to read wth they are saying
i like both but im more into dub |
Fruits Baskets I loved the dubbed version and Bleach I want to see the dubbed version so badly.
|
i know a couple of sites where you can watch eng dub and yes bleach is on there eng dub too :P
|
So which is better of it? Sub or Dubbed?
|
i like both but dub is better cause you don't really have to read wth they are saying
plus the male voice actors in english sound abit mature then in the sub version but thats my opinion |
:bump: I prefer subs. The only dub I thoroughly enjoyed was Ouran High School Host Club, the voice actors sounded perfect for their characters.
Although I think for more shonen ones, I'd probably prefer dubs. It's just awkward for me to hear shoujos dubbed in English because they always end up sounding super cheesy. |
Do you have any examples?
|
I liked the subbed versions of Cowboy Bebop, Bleach, Naruto, .hack//Sign just fine.
I remember watching Sailor Moon both dubbed and subbed and definitely preferred watching it subbed (though I watched it later on as a teenager, whereas I watched it dubbed as a kid). I think one case where it's opposite for me is Yu-Gi-Oh, the dub was off. And Inuyasha. But Fruits Basket was actually a good dub. And again, Ouran High. The main reason I prefer subs is probably because it isn't heavily edited. I hate when it goes as far as changing the storylines (Sailor Moon). |
I thought most people didn't mind that.
|
I like sailor moon dub though voices suit their characters
IM DISAPPOINTED THOUGH they redubbed the whole damn series with the latest voice actors :bawl: WHY THE ORIGINAL DUB WAS FINE THEY DIDN'T NEED TO REDUB IT i refuse to watch it im sticking to the dub i grew up with thankyou I perfer dubs cause to be honest i hate how you have to read what they are saying  even waiting for OVA's to be subbed yeah i perfer dubs |
Interesting. I didn't know things needed to be re-dubbed either.
|
yeah but it was only for sailor moon crystal thats it
they didn't need to redub the original series :pout: better yet just bring back the original voice actors for sailor moon then i'll be happy |
As I might have said it before I really found the dub on the original SM really annoying. The voices made the show sound like a kid show but SM really isn't a kid show.
I'm actually glad they are redubbing it. |
Is it an adult show?
|
im not i saw a clip and i was pretty disappointed
|
That's too bad.

I could go either way. Sometimes I like dub, sometimes I prefer sub because I don't like the changes in the dialogue.
The first Sailor Moon movie being one example. First time I watched that it was in sub. I loved it, despie needing to read the subtitles. The story was great. The dialogue was well written. Then I heard it in sub and it just wasn't the same. |
