LadyZ - I went to see it again tonight. Just like I promised. And...here's my veredict:

I LOVED IT!

See, I told you that's what happened with HP: POA.

I noticed more little details and observed Tobey's performance with more attention. He DID do an amazing job in this one! Not that he didn't in the first one. I take back what I said in my first post. I loved the whole movie. I was conscious and awake and not tired. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it!

Octavius mentioned that the tentacles were imperivious to magnetism, which is why they were used to help stabilze the fusion reaction.

and watching it a second time, i have to say that Danny Elfman is one of my new favorite composers, right up there with john ottman, but after john williams. (no one can top john williams!). the score was great the whole movie.

1) Doc Ock said at the beginning that the tentacles were crafted to be impervious to the magnetics in the experiment.

2) His powers didn't really disappear. He just started to block them because he was getting depressed, doubting if this is what he really wanted to do with his life, losing confidence, etc. It's actually quite realistic and makes a lot of sense. ie: in "real life", if someone is depressed/losing confidence, their work suffers along with it (writer's block, etc)... or grades if they're still in school. It's only when they get that confidence back, when they snap out of the funk, that they're in top form again. Same for Peter.

First, I must have missed the "impervious to magnetic fields thing", point taken.

Second, I understand that people want to use this whole "Peter didn't believe in himself thing" as a reason for his powers to suddenly not work and then work when he wants it to come back. How very convienient for him. The thing is, Peter is not a normal person, he is not someone whose powers should vanish just because he doesn't believe in them any more. This is a weak plot device. Peter's powers were never based on his "belief" in them. In the first movie I believe that they repeated the whole "it's my gift, it's my curse" line over and over to emphasize the fact that he didn't chose this life, it was because of the mutation.

I've talked to a bunch of other fans (both of the comics and the movies) and they agree that this part was not at all consistent. It would have been far more interesting if Peter kept his powers during this unbelieving time and still chose not to do anything with them. I seem to be the only one willing to give a negative opinion about this movie, so it is understandable that so many people would want to reply to it. But, really there is nothing that I can think of, though many have come up with some good suggestions, that would make this plot point work in my opinion.

they were just sticking to the comics. In Amazing Spider-man Annual #1, Peter does infact lose his powers temporarily.

What I actually wanted to say:

I just saw the movie and I loved it! During the movie I sometimes wanted to slap Peter but now my emotions are well-balanced again

Oh and the opening-credits: marvellous!

I thought the opening credits were marvelous.

Oh, and I too wanted to smack Peter at times. "MAKE A MOVE ALREADY!!" But I understand his reasoning.

I enjoyed the movie immensely, but my most memorable scene has to be where Harry uncovered his father's identity as the Green Goblin. And at MJ's wedding I wonder if he already became the the next Green Goblin (note the green bow tie he wore, the same thing that his father did after becoming Green Goblin)
Despite all those clues of the next villain I dont believe he'll be the villain in the next SP3.
Notice the missing arm on Dr. Curt Connors (Peter's proffesor) according to the comic book he injected some whacked out serum into the missing limb and it went wrong and mutated him into a lizard.
And then there was John Jameson (MJ's ex) he's a pissed off dude having ditched at the altar will soon become a wolf man sort of villain. (something about him finding some foreign object while on his expedition in space) There's a connection between him and Spidey but couldnt remember what.
So many villains to handle so little time, Peter and Spiderman would have his hands full in the next movie. My lil' bro is crazy comic book fan, tells me these things even when I dont want to know it.

I agree, the score was excellent. It wasn't over the top and predictable (like the recent ones of Hans Zimmer and his proteg�s).

I noticed the bow tie as well. I guess we'll have to wait and see with all the possibilities.

I've been thinking about all the facial expressions during the intense moments in the film. I wonder what Tobey was doing physically at each moment. Like when he pulled the train to a stop and when he held up the piece of the building to stop MJ from getting crushed.

I saw Spiderman 2 two times in a row on Wednesday and on Thursday and boy did I love it! I think it's way better than the first one, I'd totally give it five stars out of five. I loved the opening credits aswell (marvellous ) and my favourite scenes were the train fight and especially the part when he passes out and the crowd catches him, and in the end when M.J. runs off her wedding and goes to Peter and they kiss (finally some happiness for him ). I can't wait for the third part. Yep, Spiderman 2 definitely is from now on one of my favourite movies.
