It always cracks me up when I hear someone not liking this movie. All my friends who I watched this with all felt the same and I always thought they never got it. I love movies like this - when they don't have a happy ending.

Why didn't they like it? Because Summer and Tom didn't end up together? I would have been disappointed if the movie had a happy ending because it would be inappropriate and forced. I loved that the movie felt so real. Especially the reality vs expectations bit.

Pretty much I guess a lot of people are so used to getting that "happily ever after" thing that it's what they expect in movies like this.

just finished re-watching this movie again and cried my eyes out

watched it for the first time this month a year ago

honestly the most bittersweet rom-com I've ever watched

the soundtrack to this movie makes me emotional af especially the Bookends song that plays during The Graduate scene

I like that the movie had the guts to show a couple who don't work out. A young man whose efforts to preserve their relationship come to nothing because he was naive.

A very sensible and engaging story about a dreamer whose first impressions conflict with the harsh reality.

It was a refreshing take on rom-coms. Usually characters like Tom get the girl in the end, the movie made it clear that Tom was in love with who he thought Summer was. He was in love with an idea and not an actual person and that's not healthy.

The soundtrack was amazing.
