Curse of the White Knight Teases a Romance Between Batman and [SPOILER]
Quote:
When it comes to matters of the heart, Bruce Wayne has never had much luck. More often than not, he's been on his own, with nary a lasting romantic relationship. Sure, the character has recently taken things with Selina Kyle to the next level, but it's sure been a long and bumpy road for these two -- and it's not over yet. However, the same cannot be said for writer/artist Sean Gordon Murphy's White Knight universe.

In the world of Batman: White Knight, Bruce Wayne only has two sidekicks in Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon. There's no Catwoman for him to love, and he's recently lost Alfred. Bruce might have the family he created for himself, but he's also very much alone. However, Batman: Curse of the White Knight may be setting up a happy ending for Bruce Wayne, of a sort. In Curse of the White Knight #3 of the series, Murphy teases a romance between the Dark Knight and Harley Quinn that makes an off amount of sense.

In Curse of the White Knight #3, Bruce is still reeling from Azrael's attack on his mansion. The Batcave, Wayne Manor, his arsenal -- they're all gone, destroyed by his newest enemy. Batman is quick to deduce the connection between Azrael and Joker, and he next finds himself facing Harleen Quinzel in need of her help in interrogating Joker. The former Harley Quinn is different than the one we know in the regular DC Universe. She was revealed to be the true mastermind of the events of Batman: White Knight, and she is much saner and more intelligent than anyone gave her credit for.

Now, Harleen is pregnant with Jack Napier's twins, and she's trying to to do it all on her own, but she might not have to handle that alone for long.

When Batman and Harleen meet, it's clear that there has been a shift in their dynamic. He helps her build her crib, and there is a certain amount of respect between the two characters. What's more, Bruce takes things even further by revealing his secret identity to Harleen -- a true sign of trust. Later, Batman even leaps at the Joker when the Clown Prince of Crime makes a snide comment about Harley.

But the teases don't stop there. As Batman and Harleen continue their investigation at Arkham Asylum, she remarks that he is handsome and teases him by saying she believes he likes her. The two then have a humorous back-and-forth about him knowing her dress size. However, it's not all jokes. The relationship between Bruce and Harleen grows deeper when she learns that he is an orphan, and the pair bond over their need to have a real family.

While there's no guarantee that the two will end up together, it sure looks like Curse of the White Knight may be building towards a relationship between Bruce and Harleen. Issue #3 really focused on Bruce's family -- the one he made for himself -- and the one he never had. Now, he might have the chance to find happiness with someone who can be seen as his equal, but he would also become the adoptive father to twins -- the Joker's twins, to be exact. Even though Batman and Harley make an unlikely pairing, they make an odd amount of sense as a romantic item.

Harleen? As in Harley Quinn? Why? WHY?

And Jack Napier? That's from the Tim Burton film, not the comics.

Why Harley/Harleen is pregnant with Joker's/Jack's babies? Though seems there's like speculation they could be Batman's/Bruce's. Why a romance between Batman/Bruce and Harley/Harleen? Why indeed.

Man, just when I thought Marvel was the one getting screwed up.

I'm terrified by the potential casting, dragonfire. I know they're gonna get all politically correct and "woke" and f it up.

If true, and Dick is in the movies then great but I do hope it doesn't mess with Titans.

Apparently Nightwing Has Been Delayed Due To The Batman
Quote:
It’s no secret that Warner Bros has a lot of DC Comics-related movies in development, some of which are definitely happening, while others have been static. Nightwing falls into the latter category, as even though it was announced back in 2017, there’s barely been any update on its status for approximately a year and a half. Now there’s word that the reason there’s been a delay on Nightwing moving forward is due to The Batman.

According to Forbes’ Mark Hughes, director/writer Matt Reeves is using The Batman to build the foundation for not just a trilogy of films, but also a “fully realized bat-world,” which is hardly surprising given the character’s popularity. So while Robert Pattinson’s Batman isn’t connected to the Ben Affleck-portrayed Batman from the DC Extended Universe, assuming all goes according to plan, there could come an opportunity for another filmmaker to play in his bat-world.

That’s where Nightwing enters the equation. Supposedly that project is on ice until the status of the eponymous hero, a.k.a. Dick Grayson, is decided. It was rumored a few months back that Dick could appear in The Batman, and Mark Hughes is now hearing that the character is expected to appear in one of Matt Reeves’ Batman tales. This would likely be through an origin story, though it’s unclear if this would be the main plot of the movie or a side story.

Goodbye Nightwing, Dick Grayson is DC's New [SPOILER]
Quote:
When Nightwing took a bullet to the head fans knew that things had changed for Dick Grayson's role in the DC Universe. It didn't take long for fans to discover the true cost: that Dick survived the brain injury, while his past as Robin and Nightwing did not. But nobody would have expected the new twist, seeing Dick Grayson embrace the role held by one of Batman's cruelest enemies.

The story of Dick--sorry, Ric Grayson starting fresh as a cab driver with no memories of his Batman Family past was, is, and forever will be controversial. Dick abandoning his family, trying to ignore his heroic heart, and donning a new costume are all open to criticism. But it seems that was all just an appetizer, now that Batman's former partner and ward is going to accept the family legacy he previously refused... as the new Talon, enforcer of The Court of Owls. Yes, really.

Fans may never know what story was originally planned for Nightwing post-brain injury, before writer Benjamin Percy's run was cut short. But what they got was Ric Grayson, a taxi driver who--despite pushing away the Batman Family's friendship and mission--decided to become a vigilante again anyway. After a new team of Nightwings began to patrol Bludhaven using his equipment, Ric joined up with them to fight the good fight. That time is over according to Jonboy Meyers's covers for Nightwing #66 (out November 20th), showing Grayson in uniform as DC's next Talon:

How easily fans will accept this twist may depend on which of the two (admittedly cool) costumes Grayson will actually wear, but the story of Nightwing has explained how it makes sense. It's all thanks to William Cobb, Dick's grandfather who originally joined up with The Court of Owls in the early 20th Century. After becoming their Talon (and earning the immortality that comes with it) William gave his son to the circus, intending for his line to one day fulfill his legacy as The Gray Son of Gotham. From the issue's plot synopsis, it seems the torture of those close to Dick has all been intended to force him into the deal:

William Cobb has taken the Nightwings down one by one, leaving Ric on his own in a Blüdhaven that is literally aflame. Cobb offers Ric a chance to save his city by at last fulfilling his legacy as the Gray Son and becoming the new Talon, and leading the Court of Owls into a new age.

The fans will get to decide whether the story stays true to Grayson, even if this version doesn't even remember William, the Talons, or the Court of Owls trying to kill Batman and his family. But the solicitation details for Nightwing #67 confirm Dick will take up the title. Will he serve the same masters as before? Or is this villainous turn not quite what it seems?

Sounds stupid. Why do comics have to try to be ever more shocking nowadays? Can't they just write stories? Why the need for way out nonsense?
