Are you kidding, Rita? 80s nostalgia is at an all time high, and it's 2019. Just go on YouTube and see. There's even synthwave techno artists who do 80s style music. No one misses the Iron Curtain, but that thing was up all through the 60s and 70s, and it finally came down in 1989. It's the culture and the optimism of the 80s that people miss, especially the music, television, and cinema. The lack of insufferable political correctness was also a plus.

the 80s were more liberal for sure, in general.

I was meaning that I know a number of people, old people for sure who claim that their lives were better under Soviet rule

Well, I know that it was different for Eastern Europe in the 80s, for certain. It seemed like there was a brief window after the wall came down that we still had much of that carefree spirit of the 80s with a freed, unified Europe in the 90s... but that didn't last long. But here in the USA the 80s were just a time for being glad to be alive. Like Cindy Lauper said, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," and to quote Poison, "Ain't looking for nothin' but a good time, and it don't get better than this."

I certainly miss the '80s. And the '90s. This century is a foreign country to me.

It goes by too fast, Dave. Especially if you get stuck in a rut like I did.

Glad you got some cleaning done.

I agree, sum1. I always thought I'd love the 21st century when it came, but the deeper we go into the 21st century, the farther from home I feel.

Well, it technically started in 1999, but I get what you mean, Rita.

The early 21st century wasn't so bad, but it's gotten weirder and weirder. And in the past few years it really hit me. Particularly since 2016.

Well, I was okay in 2000 and early 2001. Then 9/11 happened and it's been bat-st crazy ever since.

Not unless the 2020s turn out to be a repeat of the "Roaring Twenties," Rita. Or unless we get another decade like the 80s.

Hey, Dave! Man, I'm actually thinking that Tyler Hoechlin should get his own Superman series.
