The Sabretooth limited series had great Texeira art.

It looked like it. I did like a lot of the art from the 90's, and I wondered why so much of the early 80's stuff wasn't as good.

Oh yeah, there was a period in the early eighties, say about 1981 and 1982, sometimes 1983, when the art was awful. Dave Cockrum's second run on Uncanny X-Men, the Avengers art circa '81-'83, etc.

Yeah, I remember that the art for West Coast Avengers and a few other titles was bad as well.

West Coast Avengers was later. The lmited series was in 1984, the ongoing series started in 1985. Al Milgrom's art was major weakness of the early years of the ongoing series.

Ah, right. Well, 1984 for me was the early 80's. But yeah, that art was weak.
Also wasn't a fan of early 80's Avengers artwork. It got better after Secret Wars. __________________

1984 is by definition the mid-'80s.
Yeah, it got better in the mid-'80s. Particularly when Buscema and Palmer took over the art duties. __________________

Yes, you're right. 80-83 were the early 80's. By 84 we were deep into Van Halen, Michael Jackson, and Madonna, along with Miami Vice and the Cosby Show.
I did like the Spider-Man art of the time. 1984 is when I got back into comics after seeing the Spider-Man cover with his new black and white outfit. That was right when the Secret Wars came out. __________________

Yeah, 1984 was when Secret Wars started. That was a little after JRJR started on Uncanny X-Men. __________________

Van Halen is a rock group that was part of the LA metal scene, sum1. Sorry, I just miss that decade.
JRJR went to Uncanny X-Men? Damn, now I forgot who was drawing Amazing Spider-Man at the time. This was before Todd McFarlane came along. __________________

JRJR drew UXM late 1983 to late 1986.

Oh, I see. I noticed a change in the X-Men comics once X-Factor came along.

That was late in Romita's run.

Man, now I'm really nostalgic for 80's comics. I heard that JRJR returned to Spider-Man in the 2000's, and he also drew Superman.
