I just finished a really cool documentary on the French experience of the First World War and the impact it had on women's roles in French society.
It was really interesting. Don't ask me the name, though, because it was airing on TV and I just happened to catch it in passing. __________________

I love Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill in interviews, so I'm really hoping The Man from U.N.C.L.E. does well for their sakes.

It didn't make a great amount of money on the opening weekend.

Not in the U.S., no, but I hear it's doing pretty well in some overseas markets, like Russia and Australia.
And, the more I think about it, the more it sounds like a no brainer that this movie would do better outside of the United States. I mean, the lone U.S. actor plays a Russian, while the others are all, like, Brits and Swedes and Germans and Poles, right? Guy Richie, although solid with the Sherlock Holmes movies, is closely tied to the UK action movie scene. Plus, it's set entirely outside the United States. Usually, action movies that do well on U.S. soil need to have a stronger U.S. connection than that. Even the Sherlock Holmes movies had RDJ going for them in that sense. So, maybe Man from U.N.C.L.E.'ll do well enough abroad to justify another go. Or not. __________________

I know it's almost blasphemy to say this, but I really love both. I mean, I kinda grew up with the first one and the second one filled in the few gaps the first one had (and it was so freaking gorgeous). __________________
