I'm not saying I jumped or had nightmares, just it's got amazingly awesome imagery and the atmosphere set up just is outstanding.

Oh yeah, that's true. It was a good movie with good effects.

The original was made for $1.8 million in 1984. You look at how effective some effects were like him pushing through the ceiling above Nancy while she slept. Then look at the 2010 remake which had a budget of like $35 million and you see them re-create that same scene and it was so fake and cartoonish looking.
