Still waiting to hear from that but I think the process is still ongoing. Good to know you remember it. Yeah the course went really well, and now I've been doing this expert stuff for about 1,5 months and I have to say I really like it. :D So at the moment I'm pleased with my work situation.

That's great you're enjoying it! And good luck with the one you did the interview for, fingers crossed for you that this one works out.

Good it's cooler now. Like I mentioned we even had snow but it just got warmier and the snow is melting and it's all wet and slushy and dark now. :pout:
It doesn't seem like it's going to make up its mind  It's hot again now here too.

Sorry to hear that. :( I hope you start feeling better soon.
It's actually been behaving lately which is good, thanks

It really was! :sigh: And it was like that for sure, now I can check those off my bucket list.
Awesome

Glad you understand, I don't do it often but now I couldn't resist. xD
Yeah same, it depends on how much watching/experiencing something really affected you in that moment

Quote:

So did you see it? Yeah, I think it's near impossible to catch up. xD
I haven't actually been watching movies lately but when I start again, it'll probably be on top of the list xD

I thought the CGI worked really well too. The cast was great! And that was definitely cool, I read his comment about being able to represent and portray such a positive character (instead of a negative stereotype). This is the scene on TBBT.

[YT]Opw6e7ItInc[/YT]
Yeah exactly, I'm happy about that. Arabs can actually portray all types of characters... :look: Which has been happening more often, I've been seeing Hijabi's on several shows lately as nurses and doctors and such.

Oh awesome, thanks for finding it :D He's had a fruitful day xD I like that he incorporated the words and phrases he's learning into the conversation

Did you watch it, Ray? Other movies I've seen this fall in addition to the ones I've mentioned are Once Upon Time In Hollywood (loved it) and the latest Spider-Man.
Re- Avengers Endgame, not yet xD Glad you enjoyed those two movies! They are also on my uber long list of movies

Friday tomorrow and boy am I looking forward to it! Imma leave work early so I can watch thr pre show of the most important game of my country's history. Because tomorrow Finland's Men's National Football Team will very, very, very likely to qualify for EURO2020 (the European Championship) for the first time ever. :D I'm even skipping the office Christmas party for this. :rotfl:
Oh wow, it does sound important! Good luck to the team and hope it'll be worth leaving early and skipping the party xD Your party seems quite early though, is it usually like that? Ours is usually in the first couple of weeks of December.

Hope you have a great weekend! :D
You too!

Thank you! And yeah it did work out, I got the permanent position. They let me know today, I almost couldn't believe my ears. xD

It should really make up its mind. It's just that I would prefer snow because this time of the year is so dark and miserable here.

No problem. Only Sheldon would learn Finnish when he has some extra time. xD Yeah he put it to use pretty well.

I especially recommend Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, it was great. :D

It was important and it most definitely was worth it because we qualified! :yay: And you're right about the party, I think it's usually been a couple of weeks later. It probably had something to do with a different format they were trying this year.

Another weekend ahead, I hope you enjoy it! I went out with my sisters tonight, there's the annual light festival in my hometown this weekend, so we went to see the different artworks around the town, they were nice.

Oh wow, that's amazing! Big congrats, very happy for you :back_hug: So the people in charge finally did make smarter choices xD  When will you start at this new position?

Apparently not yet  Makes sense... although I don't know the feeling of living with snow, we don't get it in my city.

Awesome, it does have the ingredients of a great movie, with its cast, director, story etc.

That was more good news, another congrats :D Oh okay, well that didn't work out for you then, being on the same day as the game.

Sorry I didn’t reply before, thank you so much! :back_hug: Haha, I guess they finally did. xD I started January 1st (sorry for the late answer ), although due to some bureaucratic mess it never got officially announced which irks me just a tiny bit. :P

So I guess it’s better to move the virus discussion here...

Like I mentioned, the European championship of football (Euro2020) that was supposed to happen this summer got postponed to next summer. :pout: I realize it’s necessary but it still sucks. Like I mentioned, our national team qualified for the first time ever (thanks for the congrats by the way :D) and my sister, my brother-in-law and I actually got tickets to one of the games. So we’ll have to wait a year longer but I guess it gives us time to get travel and accommodation taken care of, we had procrastinated on that a bit. xD

Also like I mentioned, there have been some massive measures taken here, lots of public places are closed and we should avoid all the unnecessary public outings. I’m just happy that just before things got serious here late last week, the previous weekend my sister and I went to an art museum to see a great exhibition, and my niece and I went to a virtual reality game house, which was my b-day gift to her (from last year actually xD) so I got that taken care of. And last weekend after the restrictions had been placed, my sisters, their kids, my brother-in-law and I went to the park on Saturday and to a little camping trip on Sunday, so we got to spend time together outdoors.

How are things with you? Hopefully well, and stay safe.

No worries! Aw that sucks, especially since you've worked so hard and long for it, definitely get how that feels

Spoiler:

With the spread of this virus being so quick, that is the safer route. That's great you got to do those outings and spend time with your family right before this whole thing started to become more serious. Those sound like fun plans too. Better late than never for that year-late gift xD

Pretty much on lockdown now, it's the same with people urged not to leave their homes except for urgent reasons. Up until now it was still contained within people who came from abroad already infected, and the people they were in contact with. But yesterday it was announced that it has already spread, with many cases of unknown origin. Hopefully this causes people to become more vigilant about following the lockdown regulations.

--
From Post Count thread xD

Spoiler:

They should be more lenient nowadays with this being an unusual situation that's affecting everyone. And hope so too for no casualties for you.

Spoiler:

Yeah, since Thursday 12th, it has taken a bit to get used to but it's working much better now. At this point, it is necessary. Sleeping longer is definitely a welcome perk xD It doesn't work much for me unfortunately because my team does an online short meeting every morning so I need to be up for that.

Schools and universities have been closed for a couple of weeks now, and businesses and shops (other than grocery stores and pharmacies) since Monday. Shopping online might be a good way to go, here we've resorted to phone orders since it is the safer choice rather than being around other people.

Spoiler:

Being bummed about it is understandable. We've only been home-bound for 10 days now and I already miss my regular Saturday plans xD That is too bad about you already had plans for it, but that is a silver lining about needing more prep time... although you probably just needed a couple additional weeks, not a whole year xD And at least that's not something that can be cancelled, just rescheduled.

Other than all that, hope you're having a good weekend

Hi Ray! Bumping this thread up!

dancing in the rain 02-22-2021 06:28 PM

Hey Lindsay! Thank you  How are things for you in these strange times?

L i N d $ @ y 02-22-2021 08:43 PM

I'm doing fine all things considered. I'm either working from home or at the office, it all depends but employer is encouraging me to work from home.

How are things with you>? :)

dancing in the rain 02-24-2021 06:47 AM

That's good they're not one of those insisting the employees come in regardless of the situation.

It's fine for me too, work-wise it's been full-time from home for a while now. At one point we were going to the office for a couple of days a week, but it wasn't working out so well.

The main thing that is annoying at this point are the frequent lockdowns, because you still need to go out every once in a while for errands and such, and that gets complicated with official lockdowns.

L i N d $ @ y 02-24-2021 08:15 PM

Over here we haven't been in a strict lockdown since July last year. There are still restrictions but we're pretty much used to it by now. I still haven't seen my grandma since December 2019 as she's isolated (98 yo). I'll go to the office and not stay there for long. It used to be just 30% of employees going to work, now it's 50%. I'm in a pandemic fatigue already and we still don't have vaccines here. :sigh:

I have no work today (special non-working holiday meaning no work no pay) and will be away this weekend. I hope you have a great weekend ahead and have time to relax and unwind. :)

dancing in the rain 02-26-2021 01:07 AM

Yeah the restrictions we got used to, but then idiotically they allowed New Year celebrations and opened everything over Christmas and New Year, and the numbers spiked like crazy  So now they're trying to clean up their mess by going 180 on us and making us pay the price.

That is another thing that sucks, not being able to visit family as much anymore. I didn't see mine for half of 2020 then did a short visit over the Summer and haven't been to visit her again since.

Hope the vaccines arrive there soon. And enjoy your weekend

L i N d $ @ y 02-28-2021 08:33 PM

Vaccines finally arrived today but majority of the people here are iffy. We had a vaccine gone wrong here last 2017 so the public is understandably very cautious.

Yeah we were scared of spikes over the holidays as well and we expected it. We're still getting thousands of cases everyday but these are mostly undetected cases so basically it's just confirming that we still have the virus here. I'd be more relaxed if we're getting less than 100/day but that seems impossible for us these days. :look:

How was your weekend? :) I'm back at the office today. There's lots to do but I can manage. :)

dancing in the rain 03-02-2021 01:13 AM

Seems pretty much exactly how things are going for us here, with the vaccine situation and the number of cases.

Even with it being in the thousands, I was still going out for grocery shopping and such, and of course taking all precautions. But over the past couple of months, they were asking us to actually get permits if we want to go literally anywhere, so it just made me less interested in going out even for the necessities, and I'm just ordering in.

My weekend was okay. I've had a huge work load for the past couple of months, so weekends have been part work lately. I did get a chance to catch up on some of my shows which was fun.

L i N d $ @ y 03-02-2021 08:29 PM

Same here. It was awfully strict here and my mom (who's a senior) literally can't go out so it was mostly me and my sister going out for groceries. We can order online of course but they cost twice more because of the delivery even though mom lives right across a mall.

Weekends for me is also on catching up on TV shows. I've mostly caught up just cause network TV in the US started late and there are only a handful of shows back compared to before. Streaming sites is where it's at for me so I don't need to get out of the house to watch a movie (even though they're still closed here). I do hope work for you won't be as stressful. Real-life is stressful enough as it is and work being stressful won't help at all. :sigh:

dancing in the rain 03-05-2021 12:15 AM

That does suck and makes completely no sense about the delivery, especially in times like these when people are obliged to get delivery. It's been me and my sister getting the groceries for years now, but with the lockdowns and needing to get a permit for every step you make outside, delivery was our best option.

Yeah shows being back has been a mess with all the Covid stuff. We'd get 2 episodes then hiatus then one episode then hiatus. But at least it seems they've gotten into a groove now. With everything outside being closed, it's what's keeping us sane at this point.

Work being stressful does not help for sure, especially when it's for an extended period of time. It's usually a couple of weeks, but this has been going on since the end of last year, so it's become too much. And on top of that, the next few days are even more stressful and I'll be working full time through the weekend for an important delivery on Sunday.
