Have you ever tried talking to our of your superiors about it, or isn't that something you can do?

And you can rant anytime, especially when it's something this frustrating

Thanks. I’m the one to blame for poor career planning or the lack of it. :P And those are good points you make and I honestly do not get why they don’t take those into consideration in general. With this latest position I later found out who got it and it makes sense why I didn’t get it. With that person’s qualifications the people making the choice just could not choose me over them. So it was bad luck that someone like them just happened to apply at the same time. All this shows that I just need to start working on better formal qualifications and/or different kinds of experience. At the current state I am never going anywhere.

Aw, I appreciate that, thank you.

So how’s everyone?

I actually am just finishing my 4-week summer holiday, it’s back to work for me tomorrow. xD I had a good time, for example I swam for the first, second and third time this year on Wednesday and Thursday. It was probably also the last time since the few days of a heat wave seem to be over fortunately. xD The swimming and spending two days at a music festival in a really hot and sunny weather also gave me the best tan I’ve had in years. xD I saw The Offspring and 30 Seconds To Mars plus a couple of really awesome domestic bands and got to spend time with a friend of mine I hadn’t seen in a long time so it was a great weekend. :D

Now I really need to go to bed even though I am going to work at the latest possible hour which is 10 am. xD I hope you have a great upcoming week!

You have put in the work though, so even if you haven't specifically planned for it, you should be eligible for those kinds of opportunities. Well good luck with any future ones that might come up, and hopefully the people in charge will make smarter choices then xD

Wow, sounds like it was a vacation really well-spent! This kind of weather definitely requires cooling mechanisms, and swimming is definitely a fun choice for that :D That's great you got to meet up with a friend and attend those great shows.

It was, it also included a bicycle trip with my sisters, their kids, my brother-in-law and dad. :D And swimming is definitely done for this summer, it’s been chillier than usual this August.

They were rough but fortunately it got better. Thanks I did! And now it’s almost another weekend, hope you have a great one!

Like I mentioned in another thread, I’m actually traveling to Stockholm with my sister and brother-in-law this weekend, we’re seeing a football match (Atletico de Madrid vs. Juventus if those names say anything to you xD) on Saturday. :yay: I’m super excited. :D

Also got to mention that I finally went to see some movies. First I saw The Lion King. I adore the original and even though I didn’t really have any exceptations about the remake, I was wondering because I had read one review about the animals being too emotionless. Well, all the ”worries” were in vain. The movie was gorgeous, utterly gorgeous. :in_love: Especially Mufasa and Simba (both young and adult). I kept listening to the soundtrack (the original, Finnish one though ) for days after it.

I was also surprised to see that Avengers: Endgame was actually still in theaters so I quickly went to see it too. Man, I just love a gigantic adventure movie with a limitless budget. But really, it was a worthy end to the saga. :sigh: Even though I’ve only seen like 2 Iron Man movies and 2 Avengers movies before. But I was thoroughly impressed. :D

I also found out that the live action version of Aladdin is also still in theaters in here, I’m trying to catch it next week although my schedule is really tight. But The Beauty And The Beast, The Lion King and Aladdin are my all time favorite Disney movies so I gotta see the remakes of them all. :D

So it was kind of a family affair, that sounds a lot of fun for sure! Too bad about the swimming but since we've had some of the hottest weather we've ever had for the past couple of weeks, I'd say enjoy the chillier weather

Expected xD Now I'm experiencing the same thing after a 9-day vacation  So technically that weekend was the beginning of the vacation for me, and yeah it was good! Except I started having acute stomach pains on Sunday and it's slightly better, but still pretty much on a "diet" of non-heavy foods right now, which did not go well with vacation and eating out every day xD

I've heard of them I think, especially the second one xD Hope it was a good experience!

That's great! Coincidentally I just watched it this past weekend too, and I totally get what you're saying :D I had seen the same comments before but I think they did really well with that movie. The scenery is all beautiful too. That's cool about the soundtrack, I'm doing the same thing with the soundtrack for Aladdin since I also watched that on Sunday xD

It's such an enormous movie, I'm sure they'd want to keep it as long as they can  I haven't seen it yet though xD And yeah even before watching, I can see the "action" potential for it. Same for me about the other Marvel movies

It is towards the end here, with just a couple of showtimes. Hope you got a chance to watch it! It was definitely fun. Totally get that since those are some of my favourites too, especially BATB and Aladdin  (And I didn't get this when I was younger, but I love the representation in Aladdin personally xD I liked that I could understand the laws scroll that Genie holds up towards the end )

Hope you're having a great week!

shinebrighterxx 09-12-2019 11:11 PM

 Hope everyone has had a great week :group_hug:

dancing in the rain 09-13-2019 04:58 PM

I had a couple of days off in the middle of the week so it felt like 3 consecutive weekends since it's already Friday, so it was great

Hope you did too

shinebrighterxx 09-13-2019 09:08 PM

That does sound good

Lets just go with I'm glad the week is over :look: :P

dancing in the rain 09-14-2019 06:48 AM

Sorry it doesn't seem like it was that good, hope your weekend and the coming week are better for you

a fine mess 09-22-2019 11:36 AM

I am glad the past week has ended too. First two ARD meetings complete, all grades in, and got my lesson plans done for this upcoming week. :thud: There is a lot to do as a teacher.

dancing in the rain 09-22-2019 11:30 PM

Hey Cece  I can never do work that requires that much prep and side tasks!

I'm usually happy when any week ends :look:

Cereal Killer 09-29-2019 03:42 PM

^ Same here. I'm glad I don't have to do any work outside working hours. (I would say I don't have to take any work home but technically I do when I'm working from home. But it doesn't mean I have to work overtime or at weird hours so it doesn't really count. :P)

Good luck with your work Cece! And hope things are better for you, Chelle.

Well, I never heard back from that. However, things are looking up. I finally got an expert position at my office. :rotfl: It's for a fixed term of 6 months though. But because of that they could recruit through a much lighter, less bureaucratic process. Anyways, I'm starting on Tuesday/Wednesday (I don't remember if I mentioned being back in the project I first worked in in 2015 (when I used to have lots of business trips - not sure if you remember) and I still have one training course to conduct as a teacher on Wednesday, so once that's over, I'll start as an expert. Sorry, I know this is confusing. xD)

Awesome! I'm so glad you loved it too and weren't disappointed. Yeah, the scenery was stunning. Actually while we were in Stockholm, we visited the local Disney Store and I just had to buy a stuffed young Simba. xD Haha, that tends to happen with the Disney soundtracks, Aladdin's is great too. :D

I did and I loved it! I always thought Aladdin especially would make a great live action version and they did a great job with it. Will Smith was great as the Genie and both Aladdin and Jasmine were so damn pretty. That is wonderful that when you've gotten older you've started to appreciate the representation in the movie too, that is definitely a great thing. Awesome about understanding the law scroll, I also always get a bit excited if I hear my language in a foreign movie/TV show (it doesn't happen often but it's happened on TBBT for example xD).

Hope you've had a great weekend, have a good upcoming week too!

Yeah those days are regular working days just from home xD It's good when (except for a few occasions) work is only restricted to the office

That must have been great! It's like seeing your favourite artist in concert, it feels quite different from watching them from behind a screen.

Hope so too and yeah I enjoyed the first Avengers movies  I think for me, the fact that I didn't watch the rest of them as they came out didn't help because by now there is a lot to catch up on so I don't even know where to begin xD

That's great! And yeah it works really well for one. There were a lot of comments about the CGI for Genie when the first trailers came out but I think they worked it out well. The cast was awesome too for sure! And again really cool Mena being an Arab since the character was one. Yeah it gives more appreciation to movies like that and that's cool you got to hear your language on TBBT, I don't think I remember that one xD

Well there were some permanent positions open and of course I applied, that's what the job interview a couple of weeks ago was for (where I flew to before 6 am ). Still waiting to hear from that but I think the process is still ongoing. Good to know you remember it. Yeah the course went really well, and now I've been doing this expert stuff for about 1,5 months and I have to say I really like it. :D So at the moment I'm pleased with my work situation.

I thought the CGI worked really well too. The cast was great! And that was definitely cool, I read his comment about being able to represent and portray such a positive character (instead of a negative stereotype). This is the scene on TBBT.

Nice to hear you liked it. I wasn't impressed with the first one so I probably won't watch this one unless it's on TV and I happen to be watching.

Did you watch it, Ray? Other movies I've seen this fall in addition to the ones I've mentioned are Once Upon Time In Hollywood (loved it) and the latest Spider-Man.

Friday tomorrow and boy am I looking forward to it! Imma leave work early so I can watch thr pre show of the most important game of my country's history. Because tomorrow Finland's Men's National Football Team will very, very, very likely to qualify for EURO2020 (the European Championship) for the first time ever. :D I'm even skipping the office Christmas party for this. :rotfl:

Hope you have a great weekend! :D
