ooh, I like the idea of the flashbacks with Nesado! It would have been really interesting to see what their dynamic was like & what they actually did all those years!

There was a wealth of history the show could've delved into between Nasedo & Tess. I think people would've understood or cared for her more had they seen what crap her life must've been like.

couldn't agree more, it would have developed her character as well as being capable of creating lots of plots (i.e. introducing new villains, or allies), or advanced others along by providing info about Kivar or the skins or something.

yes yes yes yes yes. You bring up an excellent point. We don't know who Tess & Nasedo met in the past (human or alien, good or bad) who could've become important. With Tess' arrival, a whole new world could've been discovered, but the writers had a very limited view and wanted the show to only be a love story. The show would've lasted longer, I believe, if the writers had broadened their horizons and thought outside the box. Plus, I never understood how ten years with Nasedo meant Tess didn't know who the Skins were or what the Granolith did. So silly.

I agree we know they traveled a lot but we don't know who they met or what allies or enemies they had.

Aw I hate the writers for not giving us more back ground and answers and why Nascado hide the alien book in the library was it there for years or did he put it there for safe keeping when they got to Roswell.

^ I also don't understand why the orb was found buried in the sand? What a random place to find alien equipment.

I just don't think the writers ever really thought about it! Like you said, they cared more about the love story, which is fine, that was their vision, but when you've got a show with such a strong sci-fi element, you have to use it, & it's not like it will take away from the characters, because you can use plot devices to move along character development or relationships. You don't just have sci-fi storylines & then character storylines, they need to merge.

Half of the writers in season 2 never wrote scifi and it showed.

I wish you had written for the show.

Sometimes I picture the writers sitting around in their office and they have a conversation that goes something like this:

Writer 1: And then Max and Liz make out again.
Writer 2: They're the best couple ever.
Writer 1: No one will ever be better.
Writer 3: Wait, this is a sci-fi show, isn't it?
Writer 1: Oh yea, forgot about that.
Writer 2: I guess we can have an alien germ infect Liz.
Writer 1 & Writer 3: That's brilliant.

the writers reaction to the alien germ!

I do wonder what their plan for Tess was ultimately meant to be, because they wouldn't have written M/T if they didn't want to explore it in some way, even if they always knew they'd go back to M/L, & I definitely don't think that they intended for Tess to be the villain all along.

Agreed. I definitely don't think when Tess was introduced that they knew her outcome would be an evil traitor. I don't even think when mid-s2 came along that the writers intended her to be an evil traitor. IDK when the show runners found out that the chances of coming back were slim, but I don't think they started to think up the "lets blame Tess for all horrible things" plan until they knew coming back (on the WB network) wasn't going to happen, and ML had to be thrown together real quick to make fans happy.

I try. I try.

Believing Tess is evil would be easier had the writers not written that scene where she yells at Nasedo in M2tM, had her try to develop a relationship with the Valentis, or had her back off Max and have him make many moves on her.

they just thought it would be a quickfix, but it didn't fix anything, just set up for a totally anti-climatic story in season 3
