It was quite the journey. Only three years, and they had gone through so much by the end, and thankfully we got to see them happy.

Well worth it. Sure the journey was rocky, and it should have been easier. But it was television and a soapy show about aliens and humans falling in.
But there was something special about the show, despite the obvious flaws. __________________

I agree I have watched my fare share of sci-fi and the storyline of Roswell was so different and the love story is what made it in my opinion.

It was all so special. Unique. We got lucky with Max and Liz.
Wish the show could have done better. Read a interview with David Nutter who directed the Roswell pilot. He was going back and looking at some of his big shows. He commented briefly on Roswell. And said that Roswell was the highest tested pilot in the history of the studio. Which meant the pilot is special. Wished the resulting show could have connected with the public. __________________

I had no idea that Roswell was the highest tested pilot in the WB history! Job well done David Nutter!
Fun fact David Nutter loved Roswell so much that young Isabel was played by his daughter in flashbacks. To this day at conventions and interviews he talks so highly of Roswell and how he loved and adored the show. I love David Nutter as a director and how he directed the pilot was so well done! Normally pilot are not done well and very low budget because most of time they are just a teaser for this show to see if it will be picked up. However how David Nutter shot the Roswell pilot was pure genius! He got the love story and showed it in such in intimate and power way! Right away you were transported into the world and into the love story of Max and Liz. The reboot tried to captured the magic but it wasn't even close. Perfect example is how the healing scene was shot in the reboot. How David Nutter shot the healing scene, the connection scene, and the hill scene was pure magic and what Jason and Shiri brought to those scene was out of this world. The chemistry was insane. To this day the Pilot is my all time favorite episode! __________________

It really was done well. Some shows have pilots that are a little clumsy, and they come together in the aftermath as the show gets going. Changes can be made. But the Roswell pilot captured everything that needed to be shown.
You felt for the characters, and the chemistry between Max and Liz. The healing scene was perfect. You felt for Max as he jumped into the fire, not realizing what he was going to open by saving her life. And the bonds that resulted. I am glad he still thinks highly of Roswell. Some people move on, especially if a show at the beginning of their career was not as successful as some of their future work. It was all perfect. Next to few other episodes, the pilot is pretty amazing. __________________
