I'm new to this thread and Divergent. I finished the first book a few months ago and recently finished the second.

I thought the first book was great. I enjoyed how Roth explored a world divided into behavorial/personality factions that are most needed by the human race to survive, Truth (Candor), Knowledge (Erudite), Bravery (Dauntless), Friendliness (Amity) and Selflessness (Abnegation) - very interesting concept. I understood Tris' journey, why she needed to make it. I absolutely loved Four/Tobias, such an interesting complex character -by far my favorite. I thought the progression of the story worked and made for a wonderful set-up to book two - Insurgent. Unfortunately, I found that book two fell short. I won't go into details, but the characters literally drifted from place to place without anything signicant happening to move the story along. Many of the decisions made by Tris and sometimes Tobias made little sense and there were several plot lines, interesting plot lines, that were simply abandoned. Despite all that I'm looking forward to book three -Allegiant. I'm invested in Tris, Tobias and the rest of the gang, and would like to see where they all end up. I just hope that Roth can recapture the magic that was Divergent in Allegiant.

Welcome.

I actually enjoyed book 2 as much as the first one. But I can understand how some people wouldn't. I can't wait to see how everything gets tied up in Allegiant.

Allegiant (Divergent #3):

One choice will define you.

What if your whole world was a lie?
What if a single revelation—like a single choice—changed everything?
What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?

The explosive conclusion to Veronica Roth’s #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy reveals the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.

OK. Well that certainly gives nothing away about the new book.
