To keep fans watching. Online Fandom was a big deal for Buffyverse.

I think Joss knew he wasn't going to give any kind of conventional love story. He loved to say he gives fans what they need but not what they want.

That def. makes sense with what was written in a lot of ways.

JM said that SMG convinced Joss to make him a cast member. So I'm guessing the fact she wanted Spuffy to happen was a big factor too.

My brother actually was the one to show me that pic of SMG/JM at Wolfpack premiere.

I was feeling really down & it made me so happy.

It's still interesting timing considering from what I read, Riley was meant to be with Buffy indefinitely when they first introduced him, it's a but odd to introduce a new love interest and then blatantly tease a popular ship

I think honestly he prob. loved the idea of the fandom fighting.

All that mattered was that fans were excited & talking about the shows.

Awww. It just shows what good actors they are too--because that scene was very heavy and angsty and heartbreaking. I'd never have guessed they were LOLing off camera. As soon as "Action!" was called they were able to snap right back into character.


This cap always makes me laugh. The apocalypse is nigh and yet he looks as casual as can be (and that hideous shirt just makes it all the more amusing---like he's planning a beach vacation at the end of the world lol).
