I think I am going to watch this episode late tonight after the NFL Games or first thing in the morning. I am running out of time before the NFL Playoffs get started (as well as World Cup Qualifying) and doing a million things around the house. I might sneak in a watch still today but most likely it's going to take place late tonight when it's quiet or first thing in the morning. I rather not have to "rush" to watch my favorite show.

I had time to watch!
Watched the episode and wrote as I watched (the first part of my review) and then I still have to write the full review post-watching. I will do all of that later though, tonight or tomorrow, but I have watched. It was as good as I remembered, even with the introduction to Amanda. |

My thoughts.....
The Kids are quiet....uh oh! I'm sure Andy is getting sick and tired of walking in on his kids making out in his home! Over-reaction I'd say! Andy has a huge habit of over-reacting! Amanda! This episode makes her look like a saint! Oh, Andy. Come on. Get over seven minutes in heaven. Weren't you ever in middle school? Ridiculous. Harold will be forever jealous of Andy. And...he doesn't need to hear Jake's comments. Nina doesn't date well groomed straight men? Good thing Andy has a beard. I realize that Bright and Ephram don't have as much in common these days, but they have a history and are good friends. I think Ephram is acting a little too cold with Bright here. Get over it, Andy! Enough! Uh oh...foot in mouth. lol Ephram, don't flake on Bright. You can have dumplings with Amy any other time. It's really not odd for Jake to ask Nina out on a date. Andy...you walked in on that and opened your mouth. Of course now Nina will accept Jake's date offer. Harold is a riot! Give it up. You're not Andy, but you are talented and great in your own right. It's time you acknowledged and accepted that. Ephram....come on! Don't do that to Bright. Andy....Dummy!! Can you start looking at Nina as a woman! Idiot! Amy, only on this show would a 1400 SAT score get you into Princeton. My son Chris got a 1400 SAT score and would not have been accepted to Princeton. Why is Amy trying to break up Ephram and Bright? Wow! I don't remember Nina saying that. Was she referring to Andy? Jake is funny and sweet. I have to give him some credit for that. Did John hear what Amanda was saying to Andy? Probably not, but who knows for sure? Bright and Ephram...so sad but inevitable. Nina wants to tell you how she feels, Andy, but you don't make it easy. Rose. Thank God you are a patient woman. Poor Bright. He is lost. Ephram should have been be more sensitive to that and fought for him. At least Ephram feels badly about the breakup and his part in it. It kind of seemed like he was indifferent for awhile. Love all of the Ephram/Andy chats which come at the end of the episode. Such a wonderful recurring theme of this series. This episode bothered me in a lot of ways. Sorry to say Betty but we have a lot of opposite thoughts!
First of all, I thought Britney and Delia were not hanging out anymore? And why the heck are these kids dumb enough to try to kiss with Andy right upstairs??? I was not interested in kissing anyone at 11 years old, but even at 14/15 I wouldnt be stupid enough to do it at the party my dad threw lol... I dont think Andy is in the wrong at all for getting upset about the game. I personally dont think he was overreacting at all. I think its gross when parents allow their kids to kiss/have boyfrinds or girlfriends over alone. Could never be me. I dont think parents should be too strict either but they need to have conversations with their kids about what is appropriate and what isnt. And if Delia is kissing that could easily lead to other things. I hope he had the safe sex talk with her when he was telling her about the other things last episode. (Tho 11 is still kinda young) I also think Amanda was irritating when she completely brushed off Andy for his concerns. She should have just said to him that she would talk to her son about it. I mean, it sucks about her home life and her husband, but that shouldn't change Andy's opinion on their kids making out in a closet! With that said, I think Amanda and Andy have a good banter. Andy is such an idiot when it comes to Nina. He makes such dumb comments to her like when he said she was shedding instead of just complimenting her. And finally, we see some signs of Nina being interested in Andy! Its about dang time. I didnt remember her rejecting Jake on the date. Wow, and how did they manage to date later lmao. But Nina, JUST TELL ANDY HOW YOU FEEL! Harold is so ridiculous lol. Trying to invent something lmao. And Rose being done was so funny. Does he not remember his genius bagel idea? I do love his disdain for Jake lol. Ephram and Bright are so awkward. I do think Ephram was being an bit cold to Bright but it seems like Bright has been a bit flaky. He was supposed to hang out with Ephram and didn't show up, so I don't blame Ephram for being upset about that. And i dont blame him for not really wanting to go to a party where Bright is with his other friends. Honestly if it were me I would have just not shown up because thats what Bright did to Ephram first. The undies thing was gross and so not cool. Bright was in the wrong there. You cant just use Ephram's studio to have sex and not tell him? He just used the key and came in there without telling Ephram, I dont think that is cool at all. That would be one thing if Bright had asked first, then I woudlnt think it was that big of a deal. I dont think that Ephram was overreacting at all. Amy had a point 100% when she said Bright was in the wrong for doing that, and also that friendships seem to disintegrate when one goes to college, that is the truth. And when Bright came to tell Ephram he didnt want to be friends, that was so annoying to me. I do see both of their points but to end the friendship is just silly and Bright was overreacting. But ephram did the right thing saying he didnt agree calmly and just letting Bright go. Bright needs to figure his **** out. It reminds me of my friendship with my ex friend where we just started not understanding each other and getting on different pages. The friendship had to end eventually. Ephram/Amy are cute, their small moment where he petted her head was adorable. The ending Ephram/Andy scene was sweet. Top 5: 1. Ephram 2. Nina 3. Amy 4. Amanda 5. Harold |

Thoughts While Watching
- I love how Andy and Nina are sitting there like parents as Delia's party takes place. - Andy, you are slightly overreacting once again. Poor Charlie. - Andy telling Charlie he’s still worried about his soft spot is hilarious. I remember being so paranoid by Anna and Sara’s soft spots but of course when they were babies and toddlers, not Charlie's age. LOL. - You just knew the second Brittany was involved once again Andy would be pissed. - Nina’s sugar it is to the kids is adorable. - I might not like the character of Amanda overall, but Anne Heche is very good in this role. - Harold all miserable over Andy’s generosity is so funny. - Andy is even wealthier than we knew… his invention is what is allowing the free clinic to have free everything, not just being a famous neurosurgeon. - Jake = annoying - You can see how the episode is setting up both Andy and Amanda and Nina and Jake and of course how it will eventually relate to Andy and Nina. It was always about Andy and Nina. - So Nina stated that her ex-husband is gay. It wasn’t necessarily clear back when he was having the affair if he was gay or bisexual but she very plainly states in this episode he is gay which answers that question. - I also just picked up on the fact that Bright is paying rent. Why on earth would Harold and Rose take his money? Harold told him in the last episode it wasn’t necessary. But he’s seriously paying them rent? - Poor Ephram and Bright are drifting apart. - Bright is having sex but you can tell it is to fill a void, not because he totally craves it, especially hook ups. - Bright, yes, Ephram is dating Amy who is your sister so quit trying to get Ephram with college chicks at a party. LOL. - Andy feels dumb once again… even Louise tried to stop him, meet John. It is kind of unbelievable that Andy found out about Amanda’s husband now considering Andy is a brain surgeon. You would think Harold would want to consult with Andy once they became partners (or even before then actually) to see if he could do anything for him. - Harold, please stop with the failed attempt at inventions. - I said this before, you can tell Greg and Emily absolutely love the Ephram and Amy romantic storyline. They just look extra happy when they are doing romantic Ephram and Amy. - I love how Amy is introverted as well. A lot of people have stated she’s extroverted and I’ve never thought she is that extroverted. She doesn’t even want to go to that party. I don’t think she’s severely introverted but she’s also not severely extroverted like Bright. I love how Ephram asked her to go with them to the party and she doesn’t want to and then he wants to end up staying home with Amy. So very cute. Awe. - Nina is a psychologist for everyone in town. - Oh my gosh, Andy is really messing up in this episode. He literally called Nina handsome and trampy in so many words, which causes Nina to say yes to Jake and the awkwardness and jealousy between Andy and Nina is beautiful. - Harold making Rose a test subject for his zany invention ideas is funny. - Harold and Rose dancing and Rose telling him he exhausts her is hilarious. LOL. - I totally get why Bright wants time with Ephram, but at the same time why doesn’t he understand that Ephram is not single and the last place he’d really want to go is to some crazy party where people are hooking up. I personally wouldn’t do it when I was single. Lol. But all the more I would never do this now with a single friend when I'm in a relationship. Bright really should have invited Amy as well or told Ephram to invite Amy and not made Ephram have to choose. Not that Amy was even making him choose. Amy told him to go and he invited her even though Bright never invited her... but it was Amy who said she didn't want to go and then Ephram wanted to be with her which makes sense. - Delia and Hannah helping Nina get ready for her date is so cute. - The Bright/Ephram thing... why is he inviting him to some lame party in the first place knowing Ephram is dating his sister? I guess psychologically he wants him a part of his current world but that's not a world that Ephram needs. So go to a movie together or do something alone, not a dumb party and even if it's a dumb party you pretty much assume Amy is going to come along IF Ephram says yes. Although like I said Amy was asked and she still said no but the opportunity for her to go should have been made by Bright. He should never have told Ephram (even after Ephram already cutely asked Amy) Amy wasn't invited. Screw up, Bright. - Andy is brushing Lint off of Nina is one of my favorite comedic scenes of the series. - Amy passed! - The Hooker Thong Ephram and Amy scene is Emily at her best showing comedic talent. This scene is just so perfect in ever way. You two shine together, Greg and Emily. - Amy giving Ephram advice about friendship is perfect. They are SO healthy and beautiful because they have that foundation. We are seeing their perfection since they built up their relationship from the ground. - Andy and Amanda... if they didn’t have them cheat it could’ve been a good storyline if they became good friends only. - Jake and Nina = - Nina loves Andy. - Delia's first boyfriend = Charlie - Ephram and Bright fight was real. - Nina, tell Andy you love him! - Harold stop with the invention insanity! - Sat 1400 Amy and Harold singing is so much fun. Amy is dancing all over clouds, she is so happy. - Everwood, once again, bring on big guest stars. Even John is played by a pretty big actor. - Love this last father and son scene, as they share space together. Awe. Andy's words are beautiful too. - Treat goes with a NYC "I'll kill ya" accent too. This entire scene is so gorgeous between Father/Son: Quote:
Sacrificing for those you love or as a result of your passion is the theme of this one: Amanda and her husband, Ephram and piano. The Ephram and Bright situation seemed real and made sense. I mentioned above I thought Bright was a bit ridiculous expecting Ephram to not invite Amy, and even attend that wild party in the first place but I think Bright was trying to introduce and bring Ephram into his world and that is why he went there. I like that they both exchanged some words that they didn't mean because at least this is a starting base. I can see both of their point of views. For instance, I can see why Ephram would think that going to some party would be the last thing he would want to do when he much rather chill out with Bright somewhere else or for that matter, be with his girlfriend. I mean, I can see why chilling out in front of a TV with Chinese food and Amy all weekend would sound so good to Ephram. On the other hand, I can see why Bright would find it difficult being around Ephram right now because Ephram has things all figured out... he is with Amy, the love of his life, and his career goals are set with piano, and he is so at peace and happy with things. If Bright only knew Madisongate exists but we won't think about that right now. LOL. They are just at really different places right now and as we know, will eventually work it out. I loved the Ephram and Amy scenes. I love how Amy wanted to set up a tent and they could stay in it all weekend. I loved when Amy found that thong, or hooker thong as she called it. She gave Ephram ten seconds for an explanation. Emily showed her comedic chops beautifully. Greg and Emily were wonderful in this scene together. I love how Berlanti is displaying this relationship: Strong, healthy, and most importantly, the real deal. You can just tell how comfortable and happy they are romantically together. They built their relationship from the ground, and became best friends who respected each other always. They were a little gray, and kissed a little, and had romantic moments, but that spiritual and emotional connection was established and could never be taken away. They talk like best friends in love which is the right combination. It is a joy to watch this wonderful relationship. The chemistry between Greg and Emily sparkles. Regarding the Hooker Thong moment specifically: I loved that Amy believed Ephram. I think it just highlighted how real Ephram and Amy truly are together. The lines of communication between them are completely open. Yes, Amy immediately freaked out about finding the hooker thong (love how she called it that) and had a panicked reaction because she was confused. But then I loved how she gave Ephram a chance to explain and once he did, BAM, they were done and over with it. Amy trusted Ephram's response. And actually, the best part about this conversation was how Amy then immediately pulled out their friendship from within their romantic relationship and talked with Ephram about how could make things right with Bright. It was so awesome to see. The depth of their relationship is endless. I just can't say enough about how much I love their relationship. I have never seen anything like it on the screen before. They are so unique. I cannot believe we haven't seen Edna (and Irv for even longer) for the last few episodes. I truly believe they are being sacrificed (speaking of sacrifice) for Jake which makes it even more frustrating. Harold's storyline was overall ridiculous. Trying to find an invention of his own (after two seconds too) was outlandish but I did love his scenes with Rose and the moment he shared with Amy, singing in the kitchen was really funny and sweet. Amy is so happy right now and you love to see it based on what she battled in the first two seasons. Anne Heche was brilliant in this episode. Her nonverbal communication as Amanda was compelling. You see her talent in this episode and once again, how Everwood was able to get another big time actor is incredible. Like I mentioned, even the actor who plays John is a big time small screen actor too. Amanda, just based on this episode alone, is a woman you really have to feel for. Selfless, flawed human, sacrificed everything for the love of her husband and even helped others in similar situations. She was so honest and real, especially the weaknesses she talked about with Andy. Andy’s overreaction to finding Delia playing “7 Minutes in Heaven” with Charlie was funny, inserting his foot in his mouth when he confronted Amanda about what had happened. Of course he more than made up for it when he researched Amanda's husband's condition and wants to help him out. Andy and Amanda would have made a good friendship (only) and it's a shame it didn't remain a friendship and nothing more. If they remained friends the same effect with Nina (being jealous) could have worked. Even more if Nina witnessed Andy and Amanda having a platonic but emotional friendship together. That would really make Nina jealous over Andy having an affair with Amanda. I do not like how they had to give Andy this romantic affair. I guess it was along with the bleeding ulcer, and the guilt he was carrying over Madisongate but I truly think they missed a big time opportunity not having Andy and Amanda remain close friends only. Maybe having a moment where they almost kiss and say no because Andy loves Nina and Amanda wants to stay true to her husband who will eventually get better. It is a shame they didn't go this route instead of the predicted stupid affair. Jake still bored me even if he was less annoying in this one. He was sweet to Nina. I like that he respected her when she told him she was in love with someone else. I also like that unlike clueless Andy, Jake knows what he wants and that's Nina. But he is letting Nina figure things out at the same time. Andy really is clueless. The lint moment was hilarious and he clearly is very jealous and upset over Nina going out with Jake. I just wish Andy could figure things out and fast. Of course we have to endure Andy and Amanda while Andy remains clueless too which makes it worse. Nina looked gorgeous in her dress, and how she would have loved for Andy to compliment her on how nice she looked, but he instead made a comment about her “shedding all over the place" and the lint moment. It was funny but I still wanted to jump through the screen and tell him to get a clue. LOL. The father and son moment at the end of the episode was magical. I think it is in my top three of all time for Andy and Ephram. Everything about it was magical with love, caring and respect swirling around. It was a perfect end to the episode. Yes, it is so true about how they were doing the kissing game practically out in the open. They could have definitely been more coded about it. Quote:
