#CHARLOE BOOK CLUB......
Ice won't be here tonight because she's on a beach somewhere sporting a bikini and sipping an umbrella drink. She'll be back for club in two weeks but we'll have to ask her what the stories are for next time when she gets back from her vacation. I'll be here tonight but will run behind a bit (per usual - sorry). I did write up notes and I think LadyH also did, so we can have a brief convo at least. Tonight's Stories selected by Ice: The Truth We Build On Our Lies by Sandrine Shaw. Published 6/17/15. One shot, around 1100 words. The Road From Willoughby by ThreeMagpies. Published 6/20/15. One shot, just shy of 2500 words. Epilogue by LemonSupreme. Published 7/7/15. NOT actually a story, more like a version of the comic, with real pictures. But there's no way we can skip this. Me = ok, but I've had a crazy week and I just got up from a nap, so I'm afraid I didn't get to the reading. |

I slept a lot longer than I'd thought I would and I'm still a little spacy. Haven't even eaten dinner yet. |

I'm here.
MD - Hope you are feeling rested after your nap. I could use one. Littlest kiddo was up sick last night. Doing fine now thankfully. LadyH - how are you? Hope the summer is treating you well. We were on vacation last week. Got back Sunday. We went to Kentucky for four days and then Chicago for five. Great time. |

Congrats! EDIT: Are you guys sure you want to post? If we do it now, there're no stories for next time. |

Ice will probably have stories when she gets back for two weeks from now. We could always pick a story too. Last edited by LemonSupreme; 06-19-2018 at 07:03 PM |

The Truth We Build on Our Lies Sandrine Shaw (Sandrine) I really liked this comic book fix…Bass never deserved what happened in the comics. He shouldn’t have been tossed aside, and made to leave the only family he had left. The lie Charlie and Miles built turned him into a legend, but I bet Bass was more than happy to become Jake, and have a live with Miles and Charlie. I did think that this line was pretty good…”They introduce him as Charlie's boyfriend, because it's easier that way. ("We can't say he's my boyfriend," Miles quips, and Bass' grin is appropriately lewd when he says, "Well, people used to wonder about us, back in the Republic." Charlie chokes on her squirrel stew and Miles flips him off, and for a moment they're alright and the dead don't haunt them.) I’m happy that Miles had a chance for a normal life, and that in this version they all seemed to find happiness even Bass. I figure Miles had to expect at some point things between Bass and Charlie might change. I mean come on you can’t expect those two to resist the pull that was already there when they are living together, and putting on a show for the town. I guess I just figured since there was only a few weeks of tantrums that he was more ok with it than he let on. I think the best part of this was that in the end when Miles died they were there together with him just like it should have been. I was at work when I read this and the end almost got me…”During the funeral, Bass grips Charlie's hand so hard she's a little afraid he's going to break her bones, but the pain is oddly comforting. "It's going to be okay," she whispers to him that night in the darkness of their bedroom, and it scares her that she can't tell truth from lie anymore. The road from Willoughby ThreeMagpies OK…bad idea to read these at work today. They are making me a little misty eyed. I really do love this one too, but I really hate it when Bass isn’t there to say good-bye to Miles. They were brothers, and should have never been apart this made my heart break just a little “He, no - they, were always looking out for Monroe, and she knew he went out almost every night, looking at the horizon, until the light went… she knew that because they did it together”. Burying Miles on the hill so that he could still watch for Bass was perfect. I did really like the time that Charlie spent with her little brother telling him their story from the beginning. Trying to make sure that he didn’t forget. I think it was fitting that Charlie was there with Miles when Bass finally came home. Epilogue LemonSupreme Absolutely loved this version of the comics. Soooo much better than what they gave us. The idea that it was all a dream makes me chuckle and remember back in the 80’s (yes I’m dating myself) on the TV show Dallas when Bobby had his dream!! Seriously though, I love that nobody died…not even Rachel she just moved far, far away. LOL We got the complete happy ending here Bass & Charlie plus a baby and Miles moving to be with them, Connor is good Aaron & Pricilla are happy and having a baby. Just lots of good feels with this one. I still love reading Charloe so much. I'm not sure I will ever get enough of them. Ok Lemon you're up |
