Nikita - Where it stands with the CW Nikita's future is at risk, Warner Brothers' negotiations with the CW seems to have paused as the CW evaluates its pilots and decides how many to pick up for next season. The CW could pick up as many as 5 pilots to series (in addition to "The Originals" which will not need significant marketing given its relation to "Vampire Diaries") and its renewal is unlikely to come long before the upfronts as WB may have a 'package deal' with the CW for renewing Nikita and series orders for its pilots,'The Tomorrow People', 'The Selection' and 'The Hundred' all of which are said to have a shot. There is a small chance Nikita could be cancelled and a full season order doesn't seem to be on the table at this point but it could comes close, the episode count will once again depend on how many pilots the CW picks up and could be anywhere from 6 to 18 episode. For now WB executives are hoping CBS pilots Blink, Company Town, Oxygen and Reign do not test well.

That article says basically that the renew depends on the new pilots pick by the channel. If The CW orders a lot of pilots the Nikita episodes will be less.

A full season seems unlikeable (probably because of all the pilots, they wouldn't know where to put all those episodes, especially because they renewed other two shows already - and BaTB would seem canceled, it was at risk until the end, with TCD).

I remember that also after season 2 everyone was saying that it would have get a shortened season, but The CW surprised everyone with a full one. I don't remember, anyway, talking about new pilots, so I don't know if this year is the same situation. Spoiler Tv doesn't post an actual source for that.

There's no point picking up a ton of pilots if they have no good lead-ins for them anyway, and right now TvD, Arrow, SPN are their only really successful shows. What are they going to put on Friday night if not Nikita

So it seems that the issue is not the renewal - which seems to be certain - but the number of the episodes. More pilots picked up = less episodes for Nikita.

No, 13 aren't enough. It needs 21 or 22 episodes, but it shouldn't be the last season. I can't imagine CW renewing Nikita with 22 not final episodes...a last season with all those episodes, I don't know...

Honestly what would the point be in renewing with 22 episodes as the last ones ever? So much episodes have sense only because of the syndication, imho. If The CW wants to close the series. it will renew it with less.
