Thanks. "Last Words" was written after I was released from the hospital in '08. 40% carbon monoxide poisoning after being trapped on the 3rd floor of a townhouse in a fire that left me dead. I was blessed that God saw fit for me to still be alive.

A Broken Heart


We said goodbye

I was really dead for 10 - 15 minutes before the firefighter found me. It could have been worse, so I don't think about it much. No, I'm not afraid of fire now. It just made me mad not scared.

Sound Of Silence


For seven weeks
I had nine little alarm clocks
They didn't have an off button
They did have four legs
And loud voices
It wasn't unusual
To have to tell them it was bedtime
It wasn't unusual
To find one who discovered a way out
A way out of the box
They would come to me
Their tails wagging
Wanting to be held
i got all of the puppy kisses I could handle
Now they have gone
Gone to new homes
Someone else will get the kisses
Do the holding
See the tails wagging
I lay in bed last night
And only heard silence
In my ears
I could still hear them
I got up and went to tell them
That it was bedtime
To give them a kiss and hug
I discovered only silence
And an empty room
i never realized
The sound of silence
Could be so loud

Thanks. The one I just posted called Silent Tears is one that I sent to a former tv reporter because she had lost her grandfather. It was written long before, but it fit her situation. Little did I know that only 4 day after meeting her that it would apply to my life because I lost someone I graduated with and she was a close friend.

Thanks for caring. I've noticed, over the years, that my sadder ones resonate with people more. I guess it's because they relate in some way and my heart truly goes out to them. Knowing that they understand the message because they have or are feeling the same way really hits home and breaks my heart, I hate that people feel that way.
