To Thine Own Self Be True

The rain falls
On a moonless night
She stands alone
Under the dim street light
She stares down the road
And wonders where to go
She feels completely alone
And no one will ever know
She's like a clown
In the morning she puts on a happy face
The emptiness she feels inside
She shows not a trace
The night promises
The dawn of a new day
The rain seems to have washed
Some of the emptiness away
She talks to the sunrise
"On this day what should I do"
Then she hears a voice
"I'm just like you"
"Give the man up
He's not what you want or need
What has he done for you
Except make your heart bleed"
She realizes she's not straight
But really gay
A new life she will begin
On this new day
To listen to her heart
Was all she had to do
The most precious thing it taught her
"To thine own self be true"

All the memories are there

The Dark Side

When the dark side
Rules your heart
Of your life
Love can never be a part
You reach out
You hope that person will stay
But when you pull back
Sometimes that person walks away
Sometimes that person reaches back
When they do you hope they won't leave
"The light is finally here"
The dark heart believes
Then all of a sudden you're scared
Scared that the love won't last
All you can see

The bullet went deep
Straight to her heart
Now there's a life
Forever torn apart
The bullet that started
All the pain
Can be reloaded
And fired again
The trigger that was pulled

Of that special someone

No. I hadn't planned on sharing any that wasn't inspired by her, but you asked me to, so I did. I wrote another one last night because I heard her say the words "almost doesn't count." I don't remember in what setting it was in or where she was at or maybe I was dreaming, but it was inspired from just hearing her say those words. Three simple words, no feeling or meaning to give away any hints as to what she meant, but I just went with what the muse told me to.



This was the exchange on May 8 and I will now share that poem.




Almost Doesn’t Count


Almost made you love me
Almost made you cry
Almost made you wish
You had never said goodbye
Goodbye was forever
Never will I see you again
I lost more than a lover
I also lost my best friend
We’re friends now
But it’s not the same
Never again in the heat of passion
Will I hear you call my name
Almost made it a lifetime

Yes. it did. Just the title, before I ever heard the song, got one going. It's posted already in this thread.

Actually,upon further inspection, what it inspired me to share was the one titled Kelly's Gift. However, here is the one that the title inspired me to write.

The Last Scene

What she was seeing
Wasn't anything new
She was also aware
That there wasn't anything she could do
