X-Men Rant/Vent Thread #1: Where We Can Discuss Things That Annoyed Us About X-Men

I'm sure I'm not alone on that things in X-Men pissed me off I'll start off with Scott's death and lack of real storyline in the movies, tbh

So "borrowing" this from the girls over at VA cause its a very good idea to have a thread outside of all the others where we can rant/vent. Also "stole" there OP

{1}

This thread is going to be used for people to rant and vent about the movie or the comics or the cartoon. Was there something in the movies that frustrated or annoyed you? Did you want to see a storyline go in a different direction? Are you upset that Scott died in the movie? Well then, this is the right thread for you!

However, before you start to rant there are some rules that have to be kept. If people break the rules over and over again, and don't listen to the warnings, this thread will be closed down. So, please be respectful and if you don't have anything nice to say then it's better if you just take a deep breath, and see how it goes from there.

REMINDERS:
  • 1. DON'T BASH THE MOVIE PRODUCERS/WRITERS ETC.
  • 2. DON'T BASH OTHER POSTERS
  • 3. DON'T BASH THE ACTORS/ACTRESSES. SAME GOES FOR BASHING OTHER CHARACTERS - JUST DON'T.
  • 4. DON'T BRING IN POSTS FROM OTHER THREADS/BOARDS/FORUMS JUST SO THAT YOU CAN BASH THE POSTER, AND HER/HIS OPINIONS.

Have fun & play nice.

Thanks for opening this and for those thread rules.

Alright, ranting away. I didn't like the fact that there was too much Wolverine in the movies and that some SLs and characters weren't given so much exposure in the movies (ex: Gambit).

I know there's more but I'll post that for later. Ah, also the continuity of the movies are so confusing!

ETA: Sarah, I changed the RULES to Reminders instead since we can't have specific thread rules for new boards. That will have to be implemented once the permanent mods are assigned. We can only follow the FF rules in place. Thanks!

Linds Gotcha cause I borrowed that from VA board and didn't think of Reminders instead of Rules, thanks for changing that

Wolverine with him being my favourite character BUT you are 100% right of how he got too much. So many main characters from the comics/cartoons that just got pushed to the side aka my dislike of what happened to Scott. He's a main character but he got nothing than died

I get that Wolverine is the more popular character, but come on. And DoFP should have been called "Logan's Place" or something more witty that I just can't think of right now.

I get that James Marsden had another project going on, but I thought it was a shame that he wasn't really in X3.

Where did Storm's accent go through out the course of the movies? How did it fade so quickly?

How did Professor X get his body back? Did they ever show that or am I drawing a blank?

Okay well here are my thoughts. Agree with a lot what is said.
  • Rogue getting the cure in X3 made her seem weak and just made her character very blah
  • Multiple deaths in X3. All of which didn't seem right
  • I wanted Gambit to be introduced in the main movies already, not within Origins
  • Emma Frost is a strong, female character. I didn't like the portrayal in first class
  • More focus on the kids of the mansion - we need to see them in action

That is interesting; cause he transferred his mind over to that coma patient. Got that but true, how did he get his body back

Rogue getting the cure also irked me cause it did make her seem weak, made it seem she did it out of jealous due to Bobby becoming close to Kitty

X3 deaths, too many but the only one that really bothered me was Scott's. Professor's didn't as much even if it sucked, but I got that one. Also Phoenix had to die, no way around that one I think

Gambit being in Wolverine and only Wolverine surely was sad, as far as I understand, he's pretty big of a character associated to the comics/cartoons. He barely had any scenes for Wolverine, as well, like 3

Didn't know anything about Emma, but seems that she should have had more and been stronger. So do agree on that

Do remember that movies are restricted, a show would allow more of a chance for it. So think what we got was good for the ability that a movie/movies would allow

Yeah, the cure thing bothered me too. And while I didn't like the way the movie made Rogue's decision seem, I think it would have gone off better if we all had more closure to it. I mean at least like a jump in time to see how the mutants who took the cure were affected, instead of leaving it open ended.

I'm generally not one that nitpicks things, unless I'm in the mood. But even Professor's X thing could have been explained away if they showed a flashback during one of the times that he and Magneto connected.

I think that was explained at teh end of X3...the last scene had him moving that chess piece.

Yes for the life of me, I can't remember how Professor X got his body back? I was as surprised as Wolverine when I saw him at the airport in The Wolverine.

And ditto about Cyclops in the movies. I think his death was the most nonsense of all. I can probably see how Jean & Professor X can die (and be resurrected) but Scott's was a bit surprising.

And yes Theresa on Gambit being introduced in the present X-Men movies, not in Wolverine's past.

But it was still left open my opinion on that being that the cure didn't really work and it slowly came back; that the genetics won out again
