She does this bark/growl/cry thing when we're getting ready to take her for a walk. She gets really excited and she runs around and grabs one of her stuffed toys and she runs through the doggy door with it, and then she comes back in barking and crying until we put her harness and leash on her! It's hilarious!

The pool guy comes out once a week and the lawn guys come out every two weeks. I'm very happy to report that she passed the test today and she didn't go in the house, so we won't have to crate her when we're not home and we have to close off the doggy door. She was so happy to see me when I got home! She jumps up on my leg to say hello and she just stays on my leg while I pet her, and then she gives me kisses. When she's done she grabs one of her stuffed animals and runs outside!

That's hilarious! I was wondering if Buddy would be nervous in the car now since he got injured in it.

Our first dog Andrew was our favorite dog, and he would be really calm in the car. He would lay across one of our laps and fall asleep! Teresa would bring him with her sometimes if she was going to the store. He loved it! He was a big baby!

Our second dog Chance would shake like a leaf when he was in the car, because he also knew he was going somewhere he didn't want to go when we took him in the car. He would be fine though when the vet visit was over or when we were bringing him home from being boarded.

So cute! She sounds so precious. You are wonderful for faithfully taking Goldie on walks. So many owners don't walk their dogs regularly and it's a shame. The winter here is so hard to walk Buddy. I just need to play fetch with him for hours a night instead, lol. Buddy will bring me a ball or a stuffed toy and then want me to act like I'm fighting him for it. Then I will throw it and he sprints to get it... returns and then sits there for a second... you can tell he's thinking too... then casually drops the toy acting like he wasn't the one who dropped it then waits (and he will wait and wait, he will not move, he's totally concentrating) for me to pick it up and he can act like he wants to fight me for it again. Do you play fetch with Goldie?

She sounds so adorable, Jerry. Awe, yay, for Goldie passing the test! That's wonderful. She's going to love not being crated when professionals are there and I'm sure she'll reward you without having an accident either. Is Goldie a good eater? Do you free-feed or feed twice a day?

That's an excellent point. I never even thought of that and here I am, the psychologist. It absolutely could be why he's a bit extra nervous (if even happy) being in the car. I think for Buddy he probably doesn't love the actual car ride... it's just about wanting to be with us while driving. You have me thinking now... it's totally possible he won't settle down much in the car because he remembers falling, hurting his knee. I think you're right!

Awe! He sounds so lovely. That's how my sister's two dogs are/were. Their past dog named Hudson was just like that and so is their present dog, Hershey. Both cockapoos. The poodle is not known for being all that pleasant so it has to to be the Cocker Spaniel.

Did you have any dogs or other pets in NYC growing up?

Another smarty. My last dog (Lhasa Apso) named Teddy was just like Chance in the car. Teddy would also vomit like clockwork after a car ride too. We could never fix that. He never threw up any other time. In fact, I'd say overall he had a stomach made of steel... I guess it was either the motion and/or working himself up so much because he absolutely hated going on car rides.

Exactly. I'm okay, thanks for asking. I have not had the nerve headache or major pain, just the usual achy stuff. Only thing bothering me is a stupid mild rash I have. It's kind of around my lower neck, upper chest. It's not distinct like someone would look and think it was alarming or even severe. It's just a very mild red color. It does not itch at all. I think I figured out it's heat rash/Miliaria because Saturday at the soccer game it was SO hot and I was sweating so much. The rash showed up Monday morning so the timing would be accurate and I have sensitive skin to begin with. Plus it's a common area for heat rash. When I look at the pictures it doesn't appear to be as severe as the ones that are shown but the mild pictures it totally looks like it. Kind of annoying but it doesn't bother me at all. I smiled widely when you mentioned you are having skin issues. Here we go again experiencing similar stuff.

ETA: Had rash looked at. Derm is confused. He knows it's a dermatitis but cannot classify it specifically. He said it's there, not severe but not distinctive enough to specify the kind of dermatitis... so he put me on a cream and said if not better to return in two weeks. I should have known he wouldn't have been able to figure it out. This is me we're talking about. I also noticed that my lower arms look slightly red too and he noted that as well. He said not heat rash because there's no bumps, no yeast rash, it doesn't look like that. So who the heck knows, it's me, so it's a mystery. That said... I still can't escape the heat connection... when I was little my skin could never tolerate the heat and I'd react with rashes. It's not a coincidence I was out in terrible heat Saturday afternoon for a few hours and by Monday I have a dermatitis. My skin didn't like the sun even if it's not a classic heat rash. It's still reacting, I'm convinced because you cannot dismiss what I did Saturday and the timing.

I don't know but it's happened two nights in a row now. Monday night, I didn't get to sleep until Tuesday morning around 4 AM and then last night I didn't get to sleep until 5 AM. I don't know why it's happening. I wasn't stressed or thinking too much either night. I just didn't feel tired. So I am not sure what is going on here, but my face is going insane here and I use the same cosmetics. I have like 10 new pimples and some of them are cystic one. It's definitely quite annoying.
Could it be the change in water? I remember going to college first year and my roommate developed a pimple-like rash on her face. She had no idea why and started investigating. She figured out it was the change of water. The college we went to was in a small town so the water was a little different from the city water we use. She had to use bottled water only on her face while showering and never had a problem after that. It might be the stress of travel possibly? Maybe hormonal? Those are the three things I can come up with.

Also now the "fun" started. There is a lot of finger pointing from their side and I am still not sure how I want to handle it. I could be confrontational like them, but I am not sure if this would make sense. On the other hand I also don't want to leave them being the aggressor so I need to decide on how much I am willing to take before telling them to mind their own business.
What pricks. I'm sure this French group had planned on being this way too, you know? They probably had meetings on how to behave and figured the finger pointing was the best route. Our dog Andrew used to play fetch like Buddy does. With Goldie, she’s very possessive of her stuffed animals, so we’ll throw one of them and she’ll go and get it, but she runs away from us as her way of saying “It’s mine!” We think it’s important to walk our dog regularly. We feel that Chance lived longer than Andrew because we walked Chance regularly but we didn’t with Andrew because he didn’t really like to walk and our old neighborhood wasn’t as conducive to walking as where we live now (a lot more traffic).

We feed her her dog food once a day and then we give her some treats and a little of whatever we eat for dinner. She’s the right weight for her size (Cocker Spaniels can get heavy) so we want to make sure that she doesn’t get overweight as that can shorten a dog’s life.

We never had a dog in New York City because our apartment was too small, but when we moved out to New Jersey we had a mixed breed dog named Taffy. My mother used to call her our Heinz 57 dog because she was a little bit of everything, but she definitely had some Cocker Spaniel in her. She was a sweet dog and a smart dog, and she adored my father. She lived to the age of 16.

What kind of stuffed animals are Goldie's favorites? Yes, it's really true about walking and dog's liking or not liking. Some dogs do prefer to get exercise in other ways such as being very active inside the house and are a bit more passive outside. It's not so much having to walk your dog outside... it's just about getting some form of exercise regularly so they're not inactive in a chronic way. You could be right about Chance living longer than Andrew though. But then again, you were just honoring what Andrew desired... he wasn't a huge fan of walks and the neighborhood was not ideal. How old was Andrew and Chance when they passed away?

That's a great idea. I wish I could only feed Buddy once a day but with his sensitive GI tract he'd be walking around acting like he was bloated. The worst thing is seeing a dog or cat severely overweight. It's just not right because it's 100% preventable. Also, both dogs and cats can develop many health issues due to being overweight. Unfortunately, dogs don't even live that long so why on earth owners would want to let their dog walk around overweight and essentially suffering is beyond me. Buddy is the ideal weight too but he's bigger than what the breeder predicted. His mom was 11 lbs, his dad was 10 lbs as full grown adults and right now Buddy's 12ish lbs. The breeder said if Buddy goes over 11 he's eating too much. Not the case at all. The vet said he's perfect for his body structure and not remotely overweight or eating too much. Breeders don't know everything, lol.

Cockapoos are really nice dogs. My brother-in-law had two growing up and he said they were wonderful. The two my sister and brother-in-law have had, past and present, wonderful as well. I believe more times than not, the Cocker Spaniel's personality is why they are so great. Or maybe the poodle is softened due to the mix, I am not sure, but the combination is really a good one. They are a nice size too and if well taken care of, live really long because mixed breeds technically are healthier than purebreds since they don't have the genetic issues, etc. Cockapoo though is one mixed breed that is documented to live a really long life too, even longer than mixed breeds in general. They are very cute too. Hershey, their present dog, has gorgeous wavy hair (not tight like a poodle) and greenish/brown eyes. Very pretty. Just a sweetheart of a dog. When you look at him, you see way more cocker than poodle.

She really likes this stuffed alligator and stuffed dragon that we’ve given her, but we have to replace them regularly, because she likes to tear them up! Andrew would kiss his stuffed animals, Chance would ignore them, but Goldie likes to tear them apart!

It’s definitely true that mixed breed dogs live longer than purebred dogs. Taffy outlived Andrew and Chance. We’re not actually sure if Goldie is a purebred (not that it matters to us) because we got her from a Cocker Rescue Organization and they said they weren’t sure if she was a purebred. Her nose is a little longer and narrower than a traditional Cocker Spaniel nose and her ears are a little less floppy than typical Cocker Spaniel ears which is actually good because Andrew used to get ear infections a lot and Chance would sometimes get them but Goldie hasn’t gotten any. So we’re thinking and hoping that Goldie will live longer than Andrew and Chance did. Hershey sounds really nice.

I would bet it's the combination of the stress and the water ;nod: . The water is definitely different here. It's more difficult to wash up a soap. I exclude hormones because if this happens it's in different time you know.

Wow true, but they also do not always manage to synchronize. Basically they reacted yesterday because we kind of screwed them up. A guy started arguing with me about something and I told him that this is how the team would estimate it. In the end we called two members of the team and they did what I said that they would. That's something they had not planned at all . So they had to adapt to this.

Today his manager admitted that when he became manager of his team all of his subordinates nut two left the company . I do not think that this is the type of thing you want to say in front of people. She tried to play it out, but it was not exactly aligned . Even one of the French guys joked about this .

So cute how they all had/have different personalities/quirks. Does Goldie try to eat the stuffing or just the ripping them apart and then it leaves a big mess?

One of my neighbors from New Jersey, who knew Taffy, said that Goldie looks like her and I think she does.
Awe what a wonderful connection with the appearance. Maybe Goldie does have a little mix which actually would be great because she wouldn't get those purebred Cocker issues. Does she have to be in the same room as you're in? How is she when you guys are all in the house together? Does she ever go off on her own or is she typically always involved in what you guys are doing?

Good that you went to check it out. Definitely the heat could be a reason . Did you advise you on how to treat it?
He gave me some cream to use. I think it's like a diaper rash sort of cream because I remember using it on Anna and Sara when they were babies.

Yes and yes. I got to sleep around 11 and woke up at 4... then I went back to sleep from 6-8. I did work from home today too. I do have to run into work tomorrow morning for a bit but not for very long.

I would bet it's the combination of the stress and the water ;nod: . The water is definitely different here. It's more difficult to wash up a soap. I exclude hormones because if this happens it's in different time you know.
Yep, water makes so much sense. When you were telling me about it I instantly thought of the college roommate. How are you treating it? Good that you are going home soon!

Great!!!!!!!!! They know this too... they know you know your stuff.... problem is they want to do it their way or think they're always right. But hopefully you have put them in their place and they will listen more.

Today his manager admitted that when he became manager of his team all of his subordinates nut two left the company . I do not think that this is the type of thing you want to say in front of people. She tried to play it out, but it was not exactly aligned . Even one of the French guys joked about this .
Wow.

She rips the stuffed animals apart and leaves a big mess! Teresa puts the stuffing back in them and she sews up the stuffed animals but after a while they're completely destroyed!

Yes, both Andrew and Chance died of Congestive Heart Failure, which Cockers often get, so we're hoping that Goldie doesn't end up with that condition.

She's usually in the room with us but if she gets tired she'll go under the bed when she wants to be left alone.

That is so funny. Poor Teresa repairing the stuffed animals only for Goldie to eventually start ripping away again.

I pray she doesn't end up with CHF.

That's Buddy too. He'll go in his crate when he's overtired and really wants to sleep. He doesn't stay in there too long but when he's completely exhausted or in pain like from the knee injury, he feels more comfortable in there sometimes. Lately though I've been waking up in the morning with his face stuck to mine on my pillow. I don't even feel him getting so close to me until he's there and I'm getting up.
