Rey in the trailers sems to me to be just the same old bland Rey. Take somebody like Carrie Fisher's Leia or Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones -there's personality there. There just isn't in Rey as played by Daisy Ridley.

 In all seriousness though, Rey has been angry from the get to. On Jakku, on the way she talks to people (even Finn at first, and Han), from the yelling and out of control duel with Kylo..she's so close to being dark and I'm surprised more people don't see it. With Kylo's the opposite, he keeps it in, he's poised, calmed, until he can't take it anymore and throws a tantrum like a child. It's gonna be funny how they balance each other out... __________________

Angry to an extent maybe, she still strikes me as essentially polite in nature and all too safe. That safe, civilized nature is likely to hold true somehow even if she goes dark. Rey has no edge. She's not a mature character designed for adults. A good contrast is Jessica Jones. Jessica Jones has no need to be perfect. Rey is sort of politely perfect no matter how many times she gets angry. It says something about the filmmakers' view of women that she's designed to be like that, and also says something about who they're aiming the character at -a safe character for young audiences.

I can see what you mean. The anger is still in her character though, whether it's being portrayed perfectly or not, that's what makes me think she's on the edge of the dark side.
