Amazon - Star Wars: Heir to the Empire: The 20th Anniversary Edition

Quote:
Here is a special 20th anniversary edition of the #1 New York Times bestselling novel that reignited the entire Star Wars publishing phenomenon—featuring an Introduction and annotations from award-winning author Timothy Zahn, exclusive commentary from Lucasfilm and Del Rey Books, and a brand-new novella starring the ever-popular Grand Admiral Thrawn. The biggest event in the history of Star Wars books, Heir to the Empire follows the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia after they led the Rebel Alliance to victory in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.

Heir to the Empire just made me think of Shadows of the Empire by Steve Perry, I believe. That was totally the first SW novel I read, and my long-standing fav altho I haven't read it in aaaaages. I haven't read this, Heir to the Empire, yet. Man, I need to catch up on reading.

Shadows was the first "adult" SW book I read, but before that I read the Jedi Apprentice series by Jude Watson and some of the other kids' books. I was 10 when TPM came out, so those appealed to me more.

You should read it. Some parts are very silly, but as a whole the Thrawn Trilogy is an enjoyable read.

Me too. I think I'll buy the special edition, since it isn't very expensive.

Maybe I'll get it. Kind of don't want any more HC on my shelf. Take up too much space.

Heir to the Empire was tolerable, but there was nothing inspired about it. And Zahn worships Thrawn too much. It's annoying.

My only problem with HC is carrying them around. I like to stick books in my purse when I go out, but you can't really do that with HCs.

Well, that and the price. But if it's a book I really want and will keep for a long time I buy HC.

On TFN we just enjoy reading a little too much into Thrawn and Ishmael, I mean Pellaeon.

Though to be fair, back then, the writer of the week always worshipped the warlord of the week, even when their own writing made said warlord generally incompetent. *cough*Zsinj*cough*Daala*cough*

There was nothing sexual between Thrawn and Pellaeon (not that it would matter if there was). Pellaeon had a high regard for Thrawn and respected him a great deal, which doesn't translate into a romantic relationship. It was clearly the respect a soldier has for his talented commanding officer.

A close relationship does not equal a romantic one you know.

Guess it's better than a writer not caring at all about their character.

Nope. Which is good I guess to also have the trade pb to stick in the purse.

It can stay on th shelf in mint condition.

The Thrawn worship doesn't bother me because Zahn actually made Thrawn cool. The Daala worship, on the other hand, I don't get.

Does Daala even have a fanbase?

Yeah, but TFN's full of deviants. You could even say it's a standard deviation. *ba-dum-psh*
