I still wonder how they're gonna handle that. Rey has a close friendship with Leia, and spent a lot of time with her at the end of TLJ. Plus, Leia's the only family member who Ben chose to save when he had the chance to kill her.


Are they just going to faze her out? Hope the audience doesn't notice too much that she's not there? Have someone fill in? Or an off-screen death (which might seem like a cop-out)

Honestly, I would prefer an off-screen death. I don't know how they would explain that Leia of all people is not part of the Ressistance. That she just left. It wouldn't be like her. And she already was in a coma.

Very true. Let's face it; there is no sensitive way to handle this I feel for JJ, can't be easy having to incorporate this into the plot.


Now that I think about it, they could have Leia slip back into a coma, based on the energy she exerted when force projecting herself back to the ship


The sad thing is thinking that she might die believing that her own son caused her death, instead of preventing it.

What makes you think, that she'd think it was Kylo?


And btw, she wouldn't think that for long. She could show up later after Ep. IX (assuming Ben is redeemed) as a Force ghost and they would talk it out.

Well, they could use the excuse that Leia used too much power when she saved herself in TLJ, and it weakened her off-screen between TLJ and Ep IX. I don't know, it's just a theory



"I know my son is gone." -- Why would she say this, unless she felt he'd done nothing to prove he was still Ben?



I want Ben to make peace with his mother. Perhaps by her graveside confessing his undying love for her. And I want Rey to witness the moment.

Good theory, but as you wrote below, I think that she would have the most impact on Ben, if she died. I think that the death of his mother, presumably by the First Order, could be the final straw for him.



Yeah, but he wouldn't cause her death directly. The First Order is huge.

The look that Leia gave before her ship blew up was very interesting. She could tell that the ship was about to blow, and I couldn't figure out if she thought it was her son who gave the order


The thought of a scene in Episode IX of Rey consoling a grieving Ben who is crying for his Mother is giving me huge feels

Considering what she said to Luke about Ben, she might have thought he gave the order. Heartbreaking

I think that it perfectly represents, what was going on there during the fight. They were the centre. Perfectly aware of each other, fighting together as one, even on the opposite sides of the room.
