OK. I didn't expect them all to be as mean as the Emperor, but just acted more serious I think. There was still sexism & racism from what I remember in the film.

I agree. It is a Disney film after all, and since Mushu was the only other comedic relief, they needed some human characters as comedic relief too.

Do all Disney films have ''comic-relief'' then? I don't remember much in ''The Huntchback of Notre Dame'', but I've only seen it once. Most things in Disney films don't seem to be funny to me anyway, but there are occasions.

Well, there are the gargoyles in Hunchback. They offer some comic relief, but then they also do spoil the mood of the film. They aren't the best example of comic relief, but then, Hunchback is a dark film compared to most and because it's Disney, they had to make some of it somewhat kid friendly.

I'd say 99% Disney films do have that comic relief, to balance out the sad and more serious moments. They are family films, after all. Take one of the more saddest Disney films, like Bambi. There are still light and happy moments to ease the sadness of Bambi's mum's death.

Exactly. The content of the film can't be 100% intense all the time or they wouldn't work for children...and children are kind of the point. Families and such.
