I've made so many jaws to drop when I confess that :rotfl:

Well, at least you got around to watching it! That's just funny to me because I think TS was the first Ewan film I ever saw.
 Mine was Shallow Grave. It's cool that we both got to know Ewan through a Boyle film, isn't it? :smirk:

 Yes, that is very cool, because Danny is a great director. And he and Ewan worked so well together.

Although, I must confess, it was Ewan's episode of ER that made me really love him. Then, I had to go back and watch TS again after I made the connection.

Ohh, nice :D I found out about the ER episode many years later...I started rewatching old seasons and suddenly, there he was! :sigh: And how cool is that the episode is named "The Long Way Around"?

 I'm glad there are no hard feelings between them anymore.

I always knew the episode was called 'The Long Way Around' and I thought that may have inspired the name of the doc, but maybe it was just a funny coincidence.

Me too. It made me sad when they had their falling out. :pout: And I boycotted The Beach just for Ewan's sake. I still have never seen it, and I don't think I missed much.

LilMouse 10-10-2009 05:03 PM

I think Ewan mentioned in the LWR book the coincidence that the docu shared a name with his ER ep. I think he said it was subconscious.

I can't remember most of The Beach. I can't even remember Rob Carlyle in it.

firewall 10-10-2009 07:05 PM

^I've never heard anything good where The Beach was concerned. Sounds like it was forgettable.

So, LWR was a subconscious choice? Funny. That statement implies Ewan came up with the name himself, right?

BehrItAll 10-12-2009 08:42 AM

I can't remember the deleted hospital scene

I also have no idea what Begbie says during his pool story. I need subtitels and Tommy

If I cared more, I;d give The Beach another viewing.

I guess he did come up with the name. I have to read LWR again.

 He basically lies and Tommy tells the real story.

firewall 10-12-2009 08:41 PM

^Sounds about right. Begbie lies. Tommy doesn't.

Who cares about Leo and his stupid beach? I'll keep up with my boycott. :P :goof:

and then Tommy makes decisions that make me want to punch him in the face. That's what I'll tell Kevin if I ever meet him.

firewall 10-13-2009 02:04 PM

 And then Kevin will politely remind you that he is not really Tommy and you should refrain from punching him in the face. :lmao:

But yes, Tommy screwed up big time. :pout:

LilMouse 10-13-2009 05:07 PM

 I would make it clear that I know he's not Tommy and he doesn't have to worry.

Tommy is the most tragic. Why did he have to screw up so much? And who's to blame for him becoming an addict: Renton or himself?

BehrItAll 10-13-2009 07:21 PM

 You girls.

Tommy's fault. He asked for it and was stupid enough to ask for it.

LilMouse 10-14-2009 07:29 AM

does it make renton a terrible friend/person that he easily gave in? or does him being high excuse it?
but i guess even if renton wasn't around, tommy still would've done it.

firewall 10-14-2009 11:52 AM

Tommy is to blame for the choices he made. Renton can't be blamed, seeing how he already was an addict. We know Renton had poor judgment a lot of the time! Sure, he could have refused, but Tommy is a big boy, who was just wallowing in his own self-pity. Tommy could've gotten drugs from anywhere. Rent probably figured it was better to get it from a friend than a stranger.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.
