Well once I got into it I did like know about those things. I mean I liked knowing more about the main characters from the film. It is just not the easiest book to read.
Was it easier than reading Wuthering Heights?

Do you think adding Renton's brothers to the film would've been interesting. I think it would've made his behavior more understandable. And I liked reading how he was a smart guy who didn't apply himself. That's something the book explained more than the movie.

Thanks for starting a new thread, Vic :yay:

I met Tommy, aka Kevin McKidd, at a party. He was sitting outside the ladies room waiting for his wife/date and I noticed him there. I had a couple cocktails in me, and he looked bored, so I figured "what the heck? When am I ever gonna see Tommy again?"

I went over and introduced myself, shook his hand, told him I was a fan of his TV show that had just been canceled, Journeyman (it was basically true, I had watched the show). Sadly, I did not talk about Trainspotting with him. But he was super, super nice. And that accent... :sigh: Anyway, that was basically it. His lady friend came out of the bathroom, so I said it was nice meeting him and I walked away.

If I could do it over, perhaps I would have mentioned TS, but oh well. I wasn't thinking entirely straight :D

BehrItAll 09-16-2009 07:05 PM

TFTNT.

I'd say they were an equal read. Both very heavy with think language.

I don't think they should have been added to the movie, but that background made him more understandable.

Ohh! Rachel, that is a cool story. Yea, in the moment you forget. Hindsight is 20/20.
But still, got to shake his and and talk to him.
What did he say back?

LilMouse 09-16-2009 07:59 PM

It's cool that you got to meet him. You got to meet someone who KNOWS Ewan and stood next to him. That's the closest any of us has got to Ewan.

it was the alcohol.

if there's a next time, you can ask. Would you approach Rob Carlyle? He scares me, yet I think he rocks.

I think what I said after I introduced myself was, "I was a Journeyman fan." and he said, "You were a fan? Why are you not a fan still?" And I laughed and felt stupid and was like, "um, didn't the show get canceled?" And he smiled and said, "yes, but you can still be a fan." And I said, "ok, you are right. I am a fan then." There might have been more, but that was the gist. And I know I said "it was nice to meet you." and he agreed that it was nice to meet me too. Seriously, couldn't have been nicer.

It was pretty cool in a 1-degree of Ewan kind of way

It most certainly was. And, frankly, if I hadn't been a bit tipsy, I probably wouldn't have had the guts to walk up to him.

IDK, I guess it would depend on the circumstances. I definitely wouldn't want to bother him. But he definitely does rock.

My friend has an uncle that we call "Begbie" because the guy is insane and has been known to start barfights... :lmao:

Yay for a new thread :bunny: Thanks Vic!

I have so much to catch up

 That's funny. And he sounds really cool.

I'd be afraid to walk up to RC.

heh, he's witty.

If RC was smiling, then I'd go to him and tell him I love Begbie. He may think I'm the nutty one then

I bet RC would be surprisingly nice. I'm sure he is not scary at all. He probably feels bad when people are scared of him because of the Begbie association. Although, he was pretty scary in 28 Weeks Later, too. But he had a good excuse in that film.

He may think you're a little nutty for loving Begbie.

BehrItAll 09-19-2009 01:37 PM

I would love to hear his reaction to that statement

LilMouse 09-19-2009 03:08 PM

haha.

It really is a compliment to him though that people may be scared of him due to Begbie. Shows he played the part right.

I'd explain I wouldn't love a real life Begbie, but the film Begbie is fun to watch...

He was a good guy in Full Monty. I didn't see 28 Weeks Later.

firewall 09-19-2009 09:34 PM

I agree, loving Begbie the movie-character is cool. Loving a real person who acts like Begbie is not.

I never saw the Full Monty, but I do recommend 28 Weeks Later. And 28 Days Later for that matter. Zombies are fun. :goof:

LilMouse 09-20-2009 09:59 AM

I love 28 Days Later. Steph refuses to watch it, but it's what made me love CIllian.

I can't remember much of the Full Monty.

the person who loves a real Begbie would be even crazier.

firewall 09-20-2009 01:07 PM

Oooh, I love Cillian, too. Did you see him in Sunshine, too? Danny does know how to discover talent :D

Renton, Sick Boy and Spud were all kind of crazy, hence, they were all friends with Begbie.

LilMouse 09-20-2009 01:13 PM

I did see Sunshine, but I have to admit I didn't like it that much. My fav Cillian movie was Intermission. It has a Trainspotting feel to it, esp the beginning.

Spud was the sweetest out of all of them.

BehrItAll 09-20-2009 04:29 PM

I thought Spud was mentaly disabled when I first saw TS.

Word!

I liked Breakfast on Pluto.

You mean, he wasn't?

Well, I will say one thing for Spud-- he has my favorite TS scene and my least favorite. I'll let you guess which is which. :D

I loved 95% of Sunshine and despised the other 5%. Most of that 5% was the horror-movie on a spaceship section  I never saw Intermission or Breakfast on Pluto. I am not up on my Cillian watching at all :pout:

 Vic told me he wasn't.

Least I am guessing the one where he wakes up and soiled the bed and it lands in the girlfriend's parents' breakfast.

Fav - ???? when he's high at the interview?

I am not up on my Cillian watching either. :(
Never saw Intermission and I want to see one called Edge of Love.

Right, and right again. :D

I am sitting here giggling just thinking about the interview scene. :lmao:

LilMouse 09-22-2009 07:16 PM

:lmao: about Spud.

love the interview scene too. And I actually understand what he's saying :yay:

Did you see Renton's cut part of the interview? it's great.

Do you mean accent wise or the content? Cause I don't understand either.

Renton's scene was great. Too bad it was on the cutting room floor.

Ummm, I *think* so. I feel like I have seen a deleted part of that scene, but certainly not recently. Is it a special feature on the dvd or no?

BehrItAll 09-23-2009 02:19 PM

I so need subtitles when I see this film.
Especially for Begbie!

It is on the DVD special features.

LilMouse 09-23-2009 07:31 PM

the dvd does have the cut scenes. That scene and the one where Renton visits Mother Superior in the hospital should've been kept

Quote:

both. Do you understand Begbie's pool story?
