When you've lived as long as Thranduil, its not that surprising that he thinks the rest of the world, especially mortals, are insignificant.

yes, that's a reasonable explanation. Though he seemed to have treated Bard above all the other mortals.

Probably because Bard comes from royalty. He is descended from the last Lord/King of Dale. I'm not saying he's a snob ~~OK, I am lol~~, but he does seem to be rather haughty about people born of lower stock.

Hmmmm, in the book, it was 170 years between the attack on Dale and Bard slaying Smaug. I'm curious how much time passed in the movies between those events.
