Yeah, I love that he was Superman, now playing Supergirl's dad! It's kinda like Annette O'Toole, who played Clark's mom on Smallville, was Lana Lang in some of the original Superman movies.

I can explain the Fred/Jeremiah confusion. In the classic pre-Crisis comics, the character's name is Fred, whereas in the series, it's been changed to Jeremiah.

See, mystery solved.
