That is the big question. They need to have been suspicious of him in some way. Maybe it had something to do with Kara? It hasn't been ruled out that they didn't try and take her from Eliza later on.

I mean but what makes him suspicious. I mean other than him having a knife in him. But it could have been simple as J'onn caught him off guard and killed him, but I don't see Jeremiah doing that, as it makes him a target. I mean unless he said Hank attacked it but really what makes that so suspicious (unless that makes them think Jeremiah is an alien)

Maybe they saw Hank's knife in him and assumed he'd attacked Hank? After all, Hank was the person that showed up to take Kara in the first place, Jeremiah was only ever working with them because he felt he had to, not out of a sense of loyalty to them or duty.

Of course, this not being mentioned to J'onn as Hank is odd, but maybe they thought that if they didn't bring it up officially, it would be easier to cover up.

Jeremiah met J'onn. That could get him kidnapped for questioning. Especially if they see "Hank" walking around, while the real Hank was found "dead".
