Actually Ro was supposed to be a regular in DS9 and when they couldn't get Michelle Forbes to do it they got Nana Visitor and created Kira instead.

I prefer Nana where not sure if Michelle could have pulled off Kira
One of my fave TNG episodes  when Alternate Tasha learns her death was a senseless death which is why am glad they changed it in this even if she comes back in that interesting arc of a daughter that is half human and half Roluman__________________
