I finished TOS. Nichelle Nichols said they didn't get much in the way of good scripts after the first year and a half and I can see her point. Season 1 was great. Season 2 had some great episodes and was good up through the Tribbles episode. The Tribbles episode was a really good episode, but after that the season went downhill, with only a few good episodes in later season 2. Season 3 was a drag, with only one good episode, The Enterprise Incident. The rest of season 3's episodes were mediocre or bad, though many of them had good elements, like the acting of the main characters and their interaction and also characters like Mr Atoz in the second-last episode. That was one of the better episodes that season. The final episode was crap, except for the opportunity to see Shatner overact to the limit in certain scenes. Still, looking back over it all, I wouldn't give up any part of TOS. It was a great show.

I've rewatched the first 4 TOS movies since I finished TOS. The first two are so-so, but 3 and 4 are great.

It was a true landmark show. And while only about half of it was good, the good stuff really stands out despite its age and primitiveness. It has a life, energy and creativity that grabs you. And cast are really great, even if only a few of them get much to do. The core three characters, Spock, Kirk and McCoy, are marvellous and have really sparkling interaction.

Their friendship and on screen chemistry definitely contributed to the show's success. Also, the storylines showcasing more tolerance in future, and who doesn't want to hope that we'll actually achieve that someday.

So typical that each think that their drink of choice is the best.
