Star Trek episodes have been good to tackle social topics without getting too preachy.

Most of this, I will say comes from the fact that I am currently going through pre-Cana with my fiance. We're both currently on break from meeting with the priest since Lent is coming up
What is pre-Cana and Lent? I mean what religion do you practice, just curious.

She mentioned that she's Catholic. Pre Cana is couples counselling prior to getting married.

I'm also catholic and never heard something like that exists nor ever heard of anyone who did that, at least not in germany where I live. But maybe catholics elsewhere have other rituals.

I hadn't heard it called Pre Cana before. In Canada couples counselling prior to marriage is fairly common.

Yeah people here do it probably too. I wonder what language "pre cana" and "lent" are. Latin maybe.

that's a good guess.

So, if you served on a starship, what would you like to do there? I think I'd like to be on the helm driving the ship.

Yes, that's what I meant.

Anyway, you know what I realized recently? My mom is a lot like Lwaxana Troi. All my mom has ever wanted is for me to be engaged already. I am now and it's not like I didn't want to be engaged, it's just the circumstances were never right.
Lwaxana, all she wanted was for Deanna to get married already.

Picard looks tired and frustrated in that last pic.

It's only recently that society has come to accept that people can have happy and fulfilled lives without being married. And the moms are probably thinking bring on the grandchildren already.
