hmm ... true. And it does seem typical Data - to notice that Spot was used frequently as a name for a pet, but not pay attention to it usually being attached to a dog.

So, my Chem professor showed this in class, today, and I felt it was an appropriate addition to this thread: CATS IN SPAAAAAAAACE!!

Okay, so they weren't really in space. They were riding in the Vomit Comet, a jet that NASA uses to train astronauts to deal with weightlessness.

That's not the official name for it. It's what the astronauts call it. They fly the thing in a series of parabolic arcs that essentially result in periods of weightlessness (or at least the conditions). I imagine the ride is similar to a really expensive, free-flying roller coaster, and have no doubt that the regurgitative moniker is well earned.
