Wasnt poor Bates already in jail for Vera? We all know John. Killing is not something he would do. My guess..? Carslile perhaps? Maybe Vera was making a nuisance of herself and she was a loose end he needed to take care of? Anna will never believe John is guilty.

I agree iram! I think something will happen with Mary/Richard that will break them up. Especially after he threatened her tonight.

Yes Anna and Bates will prevail!
I am interested to know what went on between Bates and his wife one minute he goes down to sort things out and then he comes back with visible marks on his face and then she ends up dead. They've made it look bad for Bates but I look forward to finding out the whole story. I feel so sorry for Anna and Bates at the moment. They were making plans for their future thinking they were finally free of Vera and she does keeping popping up and trying to destroy what they have got. __________________

I'm guessing he went down there to sort things out and they got into a fight. Maybe she attacked him or something - hence the scratches. But he leaves her, alive and well. Then someone else kills her. O'Brien threatened her as well. Vera had enemies!

Vera had many enemies it could have been any of them. I don't think John killed her it isn't in him and Anna will never think he did it either.

Yep, suicide is still my fave theory (she's sooo vindictive) but if not then Carlisle's doing, and lastly somehow O'Brien. I think this goes into the Christmas special.

I can see her doing something like that. Framing Bates for her murder when she had killed herself to get the last laugh. She was so vindictive she just couldn't stand the thought of Bates being happy with Anna.

How can they do that to us? I thought perhaps most SL would be wrapped up before we reach the CS. Especially perhaps the AB SL, leaving way for Matthew and Mary's more complicated romance

I hope that happens as a MM shipper I would love or them to focus on their relationship in the Christmas special and also as an AB shipper it would be nice to have their storyline wrapped up by the end of the series
