DS was endgame, it never changed for the show and unfortunately they didn’t think about Nate that much at all Even tho I was one of the fans who enjoyed watching his SL through out the show, the case for majority was different and they didn’t care

If the show was made today then I seriously doubt that people would feel right about D/S being endgame. He's her literal stalker and her whole existence is to fall in love with him and basically change as a character to prove her worth as his girlfriend. Thanks but that's not my cup of tea
She never had to change for Nate, he always loved her as she was just as Carter did. __________________

I don't know if you know, but Safran didn't break them up in the reboot, he even gave them a child
But I don't think about them anymore, honestly, I have my personal headcanon post show and that's it. If you didn't, I suggest you to read the books. They're not endgame, but their relationship means something and it's always there, even when they're not together. The books are more about Nate wanting both Serena and Blair at the same time, but still. __________________

Not surprised, though. That said, his complete indifference to pissed off Serenate fans over the years really lowers my opinion of his work on the original. He was around since mid way season 1; he should know that people adored Nate and wanted him to be happy. The writers really had a blind spot when they came to Dan. Too much portrayal of him as the undersexed nerdy character who ~Deserved~ the Prom Queen even though he didn't know her or respect the world she came from. It's insanity. Quote:

I never had a high opinion about the original in general, no matter who was the showrunner. My favorite characters were always put second because they weren't Chuck and Blair that had to be the main characters of all the main, getting the bigger storylines Safran's writing was awful in the reboot as well.
Nate is a bit different in the books, though. Blair is similar, just she doesn't scheme for power like the tv one, she's just neurotic, control obsessed, a chainsmoker and very, very envy and jealous of Serena. Even when she's with other guys all she can think about is Nate (and yes, after several books, she finally loses her virginity with Nate, just like she had always planned). Serena doesn't have daddy issues because her dad is there and she doesn't have this sense of becoming a better person. She's free and open hearted, but she doesn't think too much and both her and Dan at some point realize that they have nothing in common, basically. She doesn't care when they break up. She really doesn't have all that emotional baggage she has in the show. Nate is always stoned and that's the only thing I like they changed in the show. He loves both girls because they're different, hew wishes he could be with both at the same time, basically, because when he's with Blair he thinks of Serena and viceversa (like there's a scene when he's dating Serena when he can't have sex with her because he keeps thinking about Blair, so he takes Viagra and it doesn't end well). He almost has sex with Jenny only because he likes his huge chest. __________________

Yeah, since she felt they didn't love her as she was, then she believed she was "unlovable" and ended up with a man that basically told her the same thing: you're not good the way you are, no one can love you but if you change then someone - I will. She always agreed with this statement inside of herself, so when she found someone who enforced this thought, she fell for that.

Yeah in the books she doesn't end up with Nate, but it's because she chooses herself and his friendship with Blair (Blair do the same with her, so no NB either) and that makes sense.

With all the woe is me attitudes going on at the Humphreys in the early years, I think the shift towards the Chuck and Blair relationship was good for the show because it shook things up and given that Chuck was such an older acting personality, it allowed Blair to grow by proxy of being around his difficult lifestyle so much... Thus we weren't burdened with a cliche type of high school triangle in their cases. Getting her away from Nate was good for Leighton's portrayal, as she acted like too much of a typical high school queen bully with him. I found it cringeworthy when Blair was threatening Nate to stay away from Serena in the beginning, as if that would change Nate's feelings and make him love her more; as if Blair should settle for being a guy's second best option.
As much as I hated Serenate taking a back seat in the show as a whole, what I hated more was how the writers didn't even revisit them right after he and Blair split up. They made it obvious how he felt about Serena when he confessed his love (Jenny was dressed as her at the masquerade ball) but nothing came out of it... Then they end the season finally hanging out as a duo but STILL nothing... There was too much of a Dan obsession in the writers room. Even when Serena was free of him, they showed in 2x01 that she couldn't do anything with another guy without having to answer to Dan first. That is so effed up... __________________

I always had a soft spot for girls hugging their boyfriends from behind. There was a Taiwanese show called 'Devil Beside You' based on a manga where the main couple often did that.

^ Thanks for the back hug
Oh and look how happy and engaged in the moment Chase is in that gif. They gave him such lackluster material when it came to love interests (seasons 1, 2 and 3) that you can tell it was a huge relief for him to FINALLY be put with Blake. __________________
