The current writers got extremely lucky that it started out so well before they came along. It had such a long way to fall so they got to get away with a lot more **** for a lot longer than average.

Exactly. Heck that's probably why season 4 turned out so good despite the writers. They didn't actually have to do to much writing.

It was mainly all Emily and Norman.
