I'm here too...sort of. I messed up and posted the comments I had ready on the other thread I thought there was still room I must have looked at it wrong. Is there anyway to move them over to the new thread. I will be at work until 9:30 I plan on jumping on when I get home.

Good. Except I had my days all wrong for some reason and asked my boys if they were excited about opening presents tomorrow. THey WERE and my husband was like 'What are you ON? We don't do that till Christmas Eve!" haha oh well.

no sleep is the worst. Hope she comes around soon.

I'm actually here on time for a change! Poor Lemon. That must have been a huge let down for them when they realized that you were wrong. Do you open all your presents on Christmas Eve? The girls only open one on Christmas Eve just like my sister and I did growing up. Everything else is on Christmas morning. (Dear God let it be later in the morning b/c I never EVER get late mornings.)

Texas, I'm so sorry you are having sleeping woes. How old is your daughter?

Is everyone all ready for Christmas? Presents all bought and wrapped? I am!! I'm so happy about it too. I just can't wait to get them out of my closet. It's a nightmare. I can't even get into it. I just lean over very far and pull a shirt off the hanger.

Never Have I Ever by LostinMysticFalls
Stranded in the snow AND drinking games. Oh how I love this story already (and why it’s a favorite holiday fic that I’ve read many times over). I really like how at the beginning she says they aren’t just friends but also aren’t more than just friends. The ‘yet’ hangs there, unwritten. Love it.

I really like where she says he can come up with a way for them to occupy their time, and then gets a little embarrassed because of what she’s said. Too cute. Never Have I Ever is a classic and I like the way they play it, teasing truths from each other.

The smut is hot, but the very last bit was my favorite. I’m glad they missed Christmas Eve dinner also.

I really like that at the beginning of this, we see that they still get under each other’s skin. It’s quickly clear that (at least on Charlie’s end) things have changed. She not only trusts him, but she trusts only him. I like that whole paragraph but FF won’t let me copy/paste and I’m too tired to type it out. Ha

After Bass is captured and Neville is spewing his plans to kill him, he mentions getting Jason back. I love the way the author has addressed this…how Charlie’s thoughts go to knowing the Nano-Jason isn’t real, but even so…she wants to apologize. Sad, but I liked it.

I really like this idea of a personal calendar. It feels like something I would do, frankly. I’m obsessed with dates and times and punctuality. I get what he says about keeping sane. Even if it is just ‘mostly’.

There is some good smut here. Very good smut. I probably need a cold shower.

Oh, and now my favorite for tonight because THIS story was my gift in the exchange last year. I really like Tex’s writing style and she gives good AU, so this was wonderful for me. I know the majority of folks prefer the blackout fics, and I get it, BUT I’m a sucker for a no blackout story such as this.

I really like Miles in this. His Christmas Eve Eve party is such a fun idea.

I like this jealous Charlie/jealous Bass push/pull that’s happening. I hate this Jess (of course) and Kevin is a tool. Of course I love that Bass stepped in to ‘save’ her though I’m guessing Charlie could have taken care of him. No matter, the saving is always hot.
And then there’s that slow dance and then I get kind of fuzzy because the smut is hawwwt and I can’t focus on writing about it other than to say ‘damn!’

I was so happy when I read this last year and I’ve definitely read this one many times over since. It’s a favorite.

I actually have to say this week’s group of stories is one of my favorites in a long time. I love Christmas. I love smut. I love first times. I love sex without all the mushy declarations of love. Win. Win. Win.

Irish- my boys will be okay. Mr Lemon took them to see the new Star Wars movie today so all is forgiven. We'll go to one grandparents house on Thurs and home Fri and another grandparent event on Saturday. All is well. haha - Tex: you are up next.

What Do You Want for Christmas? By me! So I guess this is more of an author's note...

I wrote this for Lemon for last year’s fic exchange – I was so nervous! I had only been posting Charloe fic for about two months at this point, and Lemon was most of the reason I got into it in the first place, so writing for her was a tall order. (So much so that I procrastinated until the very last day of the exchange before posting!)

The Christmas Eve Eve party is something my husband’s friends do, so I stole the concept from them. Lemon’s prompt called for both Bass and Charlie to show up to the party with the “wrong” dates. I decided to forego having Bass there with Duncan and Charlie with Jason for a change of pace. I’d actually originally written the character of Kevin as Jason, at first (gym rat with a politician for a mother), but I changed the name at the last minute because I feel like poor Jason has gone through enough character assassination at the hands of fic writers.

I knew I wanted Charlie and Bass to end up in the apartment alone at the end of the night. Miles leaving his own party early to hook up with Nora seemed like as plausible an excuse as any, haha. And of course he would trust Bass enough to leave him his keys (little expecting he would use the opportunity to hook up with Charlie).

The “Bass saves Charlie from a handsy *******” trope is a little overdone, maybe, but isn’t it always so fun? I liked the idea that Charlie’s date would have noticed her staring at Bass all night. Bass getting all protective and defensive, then stupid Jess jumps in to ruin the moment. I had a lot of trouble writing the transition between the scene where Bass tells off Kevin and the final scene where Charlie and Bass get together, so I finally just sent Charlie into the kitchen and made everyone leave off-screen, haha.

Overall, I still like this story on a reread. There’s enough of a build up of the relationship between Bass and Charlie that the smut doesn’t seem totally random. Jess and Kevin are a little cartoonish, but it has all the elements I like in a Christmas fic: decorations, sex in front of a roaring fire, a discussion of what gifts people get for each other.

Wish Upon a Silent Night

You can really feel the cold with this one – eek! The author’s note is funny -- I smiled at the disclaimer that nano and Neville were both requests. I like that Charlie saves Bass, and then Bass doesn’t think he was really all that worth saving. “One less ruined twisted man to spoil the world” – so sad!

I have to admit, the moment where Bass kisses her kind of comes out of nowhere. Charlie is shocked by it, and so am I as the reader. It’s really sweet that Bass kept a photo of him, Miles and Charlie over the years. I can see why Charlie is nervous to accept the gift! The smut to wind things up works for me—who doesn’t like cabin sex?

Never Have I ever:

This is one of my favorite drinking games, so I’m excited to see Charlie and Bass playing! I like that she writes Bass lusting for Charlie before Charlie is aware of it. Haha, I like that Charlie uses hiring a whore to get Bass to drink.

I LOVE how Bass calls her out and says he could make things easy on her and kiss her and that he knows she would be his, but makes her say it. Sigh! And I love that she admits she is afraid and he tells her not to be. It is so “them.” And I like that there’s no ambiguity that it might be a one time thing with them—that Charlie is declaring herself “his.”
Just over 3 months... very much a newborn! At least her sister (almost 2) is feeling better -- with both of them waking up for a few nights there it was pretty crazy!

Okay, I can go. I only had time to read one story this week, and of course, I decided to go with Tex’s fic, because A) she write awesome (smutty) fics, B) she’s in bookclub, and I figured our fellow BC pals should get priority. So I only have thoughts to share on ’What Do You Want For Christmas?’ this week.

Tex, your A/N made me smirk because you specifically mentioned that you were a little intimidated by the idea of writing for Lemon. Funnily enough, this actually felt like a LemonSupreme Charloe AU to me. And that is a compliment, because Lemon, IMHO, is the Queen of Charloe AU.

This was a great little one-shot. Had all the classic Christmas stuff you want in a holiday-themed fic but didn’t feel overly cheesy. And I’m always a big fan of Jealous!Charlie and Jealous!Bass.

It took me a little while to warm up to Miles, if I’m honest, because he just didn’t sound quite Miles-like with the whole ‘Merry Christmas Eve Eve!’ line, but then you went and threw in lines like, ‘Hey, brother, will you make sure all these degenerates actually leave my house…’ and ‘What Nora wants, Nora gets’ followed by him skipping off to get laid - that was priceless. And so totally Miles.

Gah, and then Charloe is finally alone and the what DELICIOUS, DELICIOUS SMUT. Bass is such a good lover. Charlie’s a lucky girl! But what I loved most was the emotional connection that was there between them. Obviously, these two have cared about each other for a long time, which just makes the sexytimes all the more profound.
