Well, I haven't seen either of those movies yet but point taken. Although, I think with The Departed they were honouring the director more than anything else. With Blood Diamond, I've heard DiCaprio definitely deserves his nom. I thought DC was great, but I'm not sure it matched the likes of DiCaprio's performance, although I haven't seen the movie yet (I have heard that DiCaprio is the only Hollywood actor that has been able to pull off the South African accent properly.). I guess I'll reserve judgement until I see it which will be sometime this week, hopefully.

As far as differences between Blood Diamond and CR go, the girl I work with (the same one who hated CR), said she loved BD, so I dunno.

I haven´t seen Blood Diamond either but from what I´ve heard it´s political and touches a problem of the time the movie plays in/ IMO still current problem. Casino Royale has been pretty up to date with setting up this terrorist plot around the main action. And well what can I say...DiCaprio got hotter and all and from the the roles he played so far...but still I don´t think he´ll win yet.
Ah anyway I didn´t expect them to nominate DC so it´s all good. But tell me how Blood Diamond was and if it´s worth to go into cinema for it yet. Otherwise I will most likely wait until it´s on DVD.

And on your coworker... she sure is the DiCaprio / babyface type then Although like I said, DiCaprio got hotter IMO

Leo was great in Blood Diamond but I thought he was even better in The Departed. The Departed was definitely the better movie. Blood Diamond was good but also kind of slow moving/boring. I appreciated the message though. Leo definitely deserves his nom. I don't think he'll win though, but his day will come.

Heee! Alexa, have I told you I love you? Thank you for those pics! I never tire of the one where they're lying on the cushions! Loving where his hand is placed. They look so comfortable with each other.

The idea of her as a Leo fan doesn't quite fit with her personality. Mind you, I don't know her that well. FOr all I know she could bat for the other team. Anyway, he does seem hotter lately. I think The Aviator made him that way. Maybe because his potential is starting to show. But he still ain't no Daniel Craig hot. I'll let you know how BD is though.

Now I really want to watch both movies and I barely have time to shower and eat these days.

The Bond star won best actor for Casino Royale at the Evening Standard British Film Awards. Celebrating a vintage 12 months for British cinema, other winners included United 93, Dame Judi Dench and Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen.

News that Craig, 38, would become the sixth James Bond provoked a mixed reception from Bond fans when it was first announced. But with Casino Royale taking £55 million in Britain alone, the attention paid to Craig's performance has been overwhelmingly positive.

At the ceremony at the Ivy, Craig said he was delighted at being the first actor to win a major award for playing 007.

He said: "This is tremendous. It makes you think that the success of the film might not be a fluke. We wanted to make an exciting and sexy Bond and tell a good yarn at the same time."

Craig, who was accompanied by his girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell, added: "I don't know if I'm ever entirely happy with my performances but I'm happy with the way this turned out."

Commenting on the next Bond film due next year, Craig said: "We made the first one good and we've got to make the second one even better."

Dame Judi Dench - M in Casino Royale - held off a strong challenge from Dame Helen Mirren as The Queen to win best actress for her performance as a stalking teacher in Richard Eyre's Notes On A Scandal.
