oh god, since i was a kid, the story of anakin and padme has always been so beautiful...so tragic and beautiful...now, after the prequels - they were just so amazing...a forever kind of love - that even evil, death and time could not erase

I love Anakin/Padme! Their love story is so beautiful but later on it had become a heartbreaking tragedy.
 But it is implied that they did live happily ever after in the next life, after Anakin was redeemed. Hope so _________________________ Jack Sparrow: Shoot him and cut out his tongue, then shoot his tongue! And trim that scraggly beard! |

The prequels were amazing at portraying their love for each other. I'm hoping to buy the prequels soon.

watched ROTS last night ... hard to believe it's the same Anakin in the beginning and end of the movie and seeing the japor in Padme's hands in the end

Yeah it was definitely so sad to see Anakin fighting to keep Padme alive and only for her to die after childbirth.

I've been rewatching the "series" starting with the prequels and I just love Anakin/Padme. I remember reading the Novelization of Return of the Jedi a while back and finding this:
Among others he remembers "his dear wife," and the smell of rain, spring, and wildflowers. And in the junior novelization : When Luke is being attacked by the Emperor, long-repressed memories of Vader's begin to surface. The last, most repressed, and most painful is that of Padmé, and the "undying love" she had for Anakin. It is the memory of this that makes Vader realize he can't stand by and watch Palpatine kill their son. |
