In high school,Debbie dated a boy named Danny Devore, who in later years would become drag star Divina Devore.

Deb got pregnant by him but didn't want to get in the way of his dream of becoming a star in New York (Danny is gay, btw),So,instead of telling him,she gave birth to kichael and found the "father's" name in a Vietnam war obituary.

Michael found out after Ted(after a visit n to Danny from Michael to discuss Debbie after he made the father/son connection. furthur proof came from Deb's yearbook, where Michael saw Danny's picture. he looks just like Michael!) had cast him in a local benefit show.

Debbie was shocked That Michael found out.

But when Michael realzed that Danny wouldn't be much of a dad,he went with his mom's lifelong lie that a deceased "John Michael Movotny" would be his dad

That's Basically the story.

Hi everyone
Sorry I haven't been around in a long time...I've been busy with work and life, and work. I *finally* met Hal back in January at the QAF con in Toronto and all of my expectations about Hal were true and then-some. What a wonderful, hilarious, adorable, HOT, and charming guy he is! I was soooo nervous that I could barely talk to him. He could feel me shaking and tearing up, so he held my hand and tried to talking me..which did not help at all! He must've thought I was a nutcase, LOL. I think I managed to say my name to him. I later overcame my nervousness and was able to ask him a question at the Q&A. Of course, it was a question if he was doing "I Love the 90's" and he told he can't wait to talk about "grunge, O.J., and Titanic."
I really want to go to Philly (it's closer to home) for the DVD signing with Hal, but my friends are begging me to go to the Boston signing with Gale, so I'll be going to that. Then...I will be heading to NJ for the DVD signing with Hal the next day. My friend from Miami is even flying up here for the DVD signings.

Anyone else going to any other DVD signings?

People...you HAVE to see this. Rannie's got 5-6 pics posted of Hal, from his band's gig the other night at the Bovine Sex Club in Toronto. But this picture *damn*
http://www.photojunkie.ca/photoblog/halsparks02.jpg

And then go here to see pics of Hal from the Mike Bullard show, thanks to Rocepta - and a clip is also availble there to watch.

You lucky little :decsored:

I'm not sure if I'll be able to go to the one here in Philly, we'll see. I'm not too worried though, Hal will probably be back here in April so that's cool...besides, in April a handful of some of my online buddies may be coming down so that'll be even better to meet him with them - cause they've met him and have hung out with him...dinner, etc.

Hal still amazes me everytime I see pictures of him. He's so hot with that eyeliner and black nail polish. I think it looks sexy as hell

It's so different when you see him in QaF where he becomes this sweet nice guy...

That's how talented he is

I'd love to get to see Gale, but I doubt he'll be around here...the closest he'd be is in NYC. And even then *shrugs* not easy for me to get there.

I have a RAGE comic signed by the B/M/J characters...my goal is to have the actors sign it as well.

I'm in Melbourne too!

Wait a sec...the RAGE comic is for real? Or is it just a part of QAF merchandise?

The band really is great, better than some might expect - their really getting a following..and their not all QaF fans either, so that makes it even better.

Imagine my shock when I sat down to eat lunch, opened the TV section of the paper for the comics and Hollywood gossip and see a QaF headline above the TV listings for tonight with a picture of Michael/Ben...interview with Hal in my local paper.

Gail Shister | 'Queer as Folk' could use more straights, a star says

By Gail Shister
Inquirer Columnist

Holy heteros! Queer as Folk needs more straight people, says Hal
Sparks.

"It's the one thing missing in the show," says Sparks, who plays gay
comic-book store owner Michael Novotny on Showtime's most popular
original series. The fourth season launches April 18;

14 episodes are ordered.

"If our show is building a bridge, it's important to see gay
characters with straight friends," Sparks says. "If you're too
isolationist, it's counterproductive. We should open doors and open
dialogue."

Sparks and fellow QAF regulars Robert Gant and Harris Allan will be
in the area March 6 and 7 to promote the series' third-season DVD,
which was released Tuesday.

Gant, a Penn grad and former paramour of Queer Eye for the Straight
Guy dreamboat Kyan Douglas, plays Sparks' partner, college professor
Ben Bruckner. They're raising a former runaway (Allan).

The lone heterosexual character among QAF's regular cast is Michael's
wacky mom, Debbie (Sharon Gless). There are a few recurring
straights, including Justin's mother (Sherry Miller).

"Our audience is 60 percent women, and most of them are straight and
open-minded and very loving to their gay friends," Sparks says. "It
might be good to see them reflected on the show."

Sparks, 34, a single heterosexual raised in tiny Peaks Mill, Ky.,
began doing stand-up when he was 15. His big break was as host of
Talk Soup on E! Entertainment Television from 1999 to 2000.

QAF's dearth of straight characters is an issue among the
heterosexual cast members, Sparks says. They've spoken to executive
producers Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman, but Sparks says the
execs "have bigger fish to fry."

Cowen labels the addition

of straight roles "a very interesting suggestion, one we'll think
about." He won't confirm it, but another hetero character is expected
to join the cast this season.

As part of a gay-driven drama, Sparks says, he has to fight the
misconception that, in real life, he will decide to "go gay."

"The big fear among homophobes is that being gay is somehow
contagious. Being gay isn't a choice. It's part of nature... . You
can't legislate it out of existence, and you certainly can't pray it
out of existence."

Sparks, a longtime liberal activist, is enraged at President Bush's
proposal to amend the U.S. Constitution to outlaw gay marriage.

"It's a joke... . George Bush knows full well it will never happen,
but in an election year he thinks it will give him a jump start with
his conservative base... . Bush is using issues raised by the extreme
Christian right to motivate" his core voters.

I agree with Hal... the show should have more 'straight people' in order to make that so-called bridge Btw, I heard a friend of mine said this "Straight is not normal, it's just common."

And, about the band, I heard that their album is coming out at the end of March... I'm gonna buy it for sure!
