Unfortunately though, it's because of that strong fanbase that the comics were created

Yeah, the Buffyverse is a very profitable franchise
I wrote that because Joss said the fans were not over the characters or the stories and that's why he created the comics. __________________

^to be honest I believe even if he didn't create the comics it'd still be a huge fan base, it's up there with Harry Potter and such...

That he created it just bc the fans wanted more somehow doesnt feel good. It may explain the lack of quality in the comics compared to the show though. On TV he had a story to tell, and a mission with telling it. If the comics is only commercialism, to captalize on the continued fan interest, I guess it is no surprise if they are weirder, somewhat lacking in character dept and cheaper in storylines than the original canon.

^I couldn't agree more I do think that the comics were created for commercial reasons, the Buffyverse has ran it's course imo. I think they already did everything they could've done with these characters

I'm glad you all agree
I do not think the story of BtVS is told. The end was very open, and there was a lot of issues that could be successfully revisited and developed further But I don't get the impression that the comics does that. They don't rise to the challenge, and just fall flat |

I kinda think it was..Buffy always wanted a normal life and powering all the potentials (something I never liked) gave her a chance at that. for once

Exactly! Big change in her life. The story of how she coped with that could have been complicated and fascinating. She always claims that she wants a normal life, but when it comes down to it, she doesn't. Remember how frustrated she was about Kendra filling her role? and the experiences from when Giles drugged her so she lost her powers, how lost she felt when she was no longer the Slayer. There's a lot of juice in this inner paradox of hers, if Joss only had explored it properly. But from what I have heard of the comics, he haven't really

I agree with Wingster but yeah, even if there are more stories to be told, the comics aren't exploring them. They're just recycling old storylines
