The scene in the beginning, he "accidentally" bumped into the meteor freaks to let them escape. He had a deal with them just to see what Clark can do....
So, the whole bad day was Lex plan... just to see Clark's special abilities... lol

Oh my gosh. He bumped into them on purpose? I am apparently quite slow. That makes sense now what Clark says to Lex. I just thought maybe he meant that obstacle in Level 3. But Lex bumped into those freaks on purpose too???

Yeah, just re-watch the scene in the beginning and it'll all make sense to you. lol

That's why all 3 meteor freaks were panicking because they knew Lex was looking for results...

And the look that the leader gave Clark at the end of the episode said everything.

Yeah, when you re-watch that first scene, you will CLEARLY see that Lex was responsible for the whole thing. Even the look that Lex gave and everything.

That's why 5x02 marks the official end of their friendship because Lex got Clark's family in danger just to prove that Clark had special abilities...

I totally thought it was an accident. Well played, Lex. lol But now you mention it, makes sense. Lex didn't freak out over what he did! I thought that he didn't know who they are though. lol
